1001 Albums Summary

My favorite two parts of this album are the shifting soundscape in the title track (it was an adventure!!), and the guitar solos in Stay. Honestly I’m bummed I lived 41 years without the guitar solos in Stay. They are funky and alive and crawling and I can’t get enough of it.

I have never listened to Garbage before. I grew up only listening to Christian music. I remember we were given material to share with “non Christian” friends about what the Christian bands sounded like to get them to listen to Christian music. It is strange being on the other side of that culture now. Hearing this for the first time, I can hear how much they influenced the bands I grew up listening to. It’s also one of the few albums that I’ve heard where the back end of the album I found more interesting than the first few tracks.

I am surprised bc I do like the Kinks (particularly their Lola vs Powerman album), but I was kinda bored listening to this album. It wasn’t bad. I just wouldn’t recommend to someone as something worth focusing on.

This was spectacularly oracular. Especially loved “Of Moons, Birds & Monsters” this time when I listened. It used to be a favorite album of mine when it came out but it hit different nearly 20 years later.
