Very nostalgic, the sound brings me right back to college. The music itself isn't super synthy but their voices are, I guess? I like how groovy some of the tracks get in the second half. Favorite song: The Handshake.
I don't know much about this style of rap but I do know that I can bop to it. This album has a few really famous tracks that I was happy to hear again. Favorite song: You Be Illin'. What fun and hilarious song, love the storytelling.
Incredible range for an album with only 10 songs. I guess albums used to be that length but now they're all 13 tracks minimum for some reason. Favorite songs: Cracked Actor; Lady Grinning Soul. Real rock and roll.
I want to hear this album live; there's something intoxicating about it but listening through my shitty wireless headphones is holding it back. Stairway to Heaven IS that good. The whole album is cinematic, like I'm in an action film. That said, it's just not my top genre. Favorite song: When the Levee Breaks.
Two things can be true: A) This album contains a few iconic tracks that speak to power and discuss race relations in America, just as relevant today as when it was released. B) Lin Manuel Miranda was directly and heavily inspired by this album while writing his smash musical production, "Hamilton". That's my truth and I'm sticking to it. Favorite song: Fuck Tha Police.
A no skip album from a generational talent. Her voice, her lyrics, this album is everything. Favorite song: Love is a Losing Game.
Fine and all, Nirvana just does the whole thing better in mine opinion. Background music for me. Favorite song: Exhausted.
I'm no jazz connoisseur, but this sounded real nice. I'm in a moody club, some lady is singing her heart out. Favorite song: Track C-Group Dancers. I don't think I'd reach for this day to day but I can appreciate how beautiful it is nonetheless.
This was electronic in a way I really didn’t enjoy. The vocals felt disconnected from the music, which was also jarring and unpleasant. Sex Dwarf was truly awful. Favorite song: Say Hello, Wave Goodbye.
The tracks come at you rapid fire and seem to alternate between seething and wondering. Knowing very little about Punk as a genre, I'd say the overall listen feels experimental, riffing off of a recognizable foundation. Favorite song: Mannequin.
The album cover is so cool! Another one where listening through headphones doesn't do it justice, though it did feel sort of "samey" after awhile. Transporting sound, curious lyrics. Favorite song: Orgone Accumulator.
Stunning. Her voice is clear, emotional, and classic. Equal parts swaying and groovy. Favorite songs: (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and Chain of Fools.
A few classics on here. Nice to listen to, though I don't fully love Bob Dylan's voice all the time. I will say that I really enjoyed the textual content of this album, essential folk. Favorite song: Queen Jane Approximately
Feels like hometown Rock n Roll. Simple but effective. Favorite Song: Thirteen.
Call me uneducated by I can't differentiate this much from the other Led Zeppelin albums I've heard, though I do think it's a step down from Led Zeppelin IV. I do like how there's this tangible feeling of loneliness in some of the tracks, but loneliness is expressed as a big and sweeping feeling rather than a forlorn one. Favorite song: Ten Years Gone.
Peak cafe music (complimentary). Groovy jams that you can lose yourself in. Favorite song: Zombie.
I'm starting to think that alt-rock is more my jam than traditional rock. I like that this is softer than traditional rock. I like that is sounds kind of eerie, for lack of a better word. It's sort of grimy and dismal. Favorite song: Road to Ruin.
Noisy noisy. Unfortunately I listened to this while I was locked TF in at work and only remember the last song, which was quite nice. Favorite song: Havalina.
Respectfully, I really can’t get over the “man finally finding himself (he’s a genius btw)” of it all.
And you may ask yourself, "Well how did I get here?" Chanting into the night, techno-groovy-style. Favorite Song: Once in a Lifetime.
Three words. Fuck. Me. Pumps 👠
