The Infotainment Scan by The Fall
Mar 06 2026

I'm not a huge fan of post-punk. I realize that every time I try to get into post-punk. Weird because I love punk and new wave. The Fall's The Infotainment Scan is a prime example of what I don't like about the genre. While this isn't technically a post-punk record, there's hallmarks: rambling lyrics that are delivered almost in a non-musical monotonous tone, bass-reliant grooves. The music isn't bad. This band seems to know what they're doing to make something listenable. But this just isn't my shit. Hey guys, how about a song? Have you ever tried structure? Even the most stringent, loud punk songs are songs. Don't talk over the music, sing it.

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire

This album was pretty great!

Each song sounds like the DNA of a thousand rock n roll songs I've heard since. Pretty freaking cool!

A Little Deeper by Ms. Dynamite
Mar 13 2026

This was a really neat find. Ask any 10 people walking down the street of NYC and I doubt a single one of them would know who Ms. Dynamite is. This album is for those who yearn for more Mary J. Blige. Who knew the UK could generate something of this quality in the R&B/ rap category (then again, Mark Morrison's "Return of the Mack" might be one of the best songs ever made). I find it really interesting when something hits in the UK but can't find its way over here (see: Robbie Williams. Actually, I'll get this off my chest here, Better Man is overrated. Great music though). Go find this album, truly a treasure.
