Enjoyed the music as background music. Never felt tired of it or like I wanted to turn it off. Would listen to it again, but probably wouldn't seek it out, out of the blue.
Total banger. Songs I know, songs I don't, all great. Some all time great songs in here. Loved it.
Not a fan. Slow stoner music, and the extra effects also made the lyrics difficult to pick out to find a redeeming quality.
I'm not smart enough on musical theory to understand the technical greatness of this, though I recognize it was groundbreaking. It was fine, but not my thing.
The songs might have felt quite meaningful in their day, and I can catch pieces of that, but the lyrics often felt nonsensical and hard to follow
Overall not a fan. I was almost able to come up to a 3* because of some of the songs I recognized and liked, but so many of the songs were too slow for my taste, and the album had a lot higher concentration of ones I didn't enjoy because of the density of those

Nothing here got me too excited, but it was enjoyable. The style feels a bit like an earlier Taylor Swift, with the mix of pop/country/slow rock. It doesn't reach those same highs, catchiness, and lyrics imo, but still enjoyable.
Even though the style is a bit specific in its theme, it's smooth and enjoyable to listen to. It has jazz undertones, even though it's identified as soul, and the vocals match the instrumentals so well.

I expected to really dislike this album, and I actually didn't as much as I expected to. That being said, I didn't love it, and there were definitely some obnoxious songs in there.
Definitely unique and different. I didn't find anything to strongly dislike, but it was a bit tiring to listen to after a while, especially with some of the "unique" songs
There were some quite annoying sequences that got repeated over and over for a long period of time. That definitely sullied my opinion some. This isn't my style. When the instrumentals got interesting, the vocals were annoying. So it just kinda missed for me.
Definitely falls into the repetitive trap, which detracts quite a bit from it. Some of the songs would have been pretty enjoyable if they hadn't just been the same 5 words repeated for 2 minutes straight. I have to say though, there were some beats that got me unintentionally foot tapping.
The rhythm and flow of 90s hip hop and R&B is unmatched. When Doo Wop came on it took me right back to high school. Add in some gospel, and I enjoyed. I don't know if I could ever throw it on repeat for a day and lose myself in it, so it doesn't quite get to 5*, but it was good.
This is another one that I'm surprised, hearing the style, that it's from so long ago. This totally sounds to me like 2010s/2020s alternative rock. Which probably makes it foundational to some degree. It was fine, I was never unhappy, but kinda like background music in the car, not something I'd be excited if it came on.
I found this strangely epic, with orchestral sounds. But then it would contrast with some banjo and country bumpkin sounding music. It had some memorable lyrics, and a diverse sound. I think I have to give it a 4.
First of all, this guy looks like DMX. Similar style, but quite the different voice. The lyrics and vocals here are great; he does a great job of rapping to the beat and clearly. None of the lyrics grabbed me as life changing, but still all well done. Also, great outro to the album.
I think this would be really fun to see in concert. This was generally enjoyable dance/groove music, but most of the songs I couldn't get that much into. I shamefully quite enjoyed What Katie Did
Wow. Immediately I want them to start singing about a short skirt and a long jacket. But that was 30 years later. And in that songdidn't ask someone to swallow razor blades. Yikes.
This album was really interesting, and unique. It's weird, but I'd listen to it again and probably enjoy.
