Never heard of them. Very refreshing. Easygoing, it shows how an album doesn't have to overcomplicate things for it to be fascinating and a breath of fresh air (it's from 1989).
Probably won't save because it's not my style, but really enjoyable to listen to through and through. A little too soft for me to listen to for 1 hour straight. Might be great for a road trip type thing though.
I had mixed feelings on this one.
Catching me on a bad day, it came in a perfect way with reflexive, super deep, and detailed personal problems she has/had. It could've been a perfect connection, but here comes the problem: the over the top vocals, especially in some of the tunes in the album.
Some were super deep, I was able to connect and vibe, but some just threw me off, and I wanted it to stop. I would save some tunes like A Case of You, The Last Time I Saw Richard and a few others.
This still doesn't deny that I was very surprised by this, but probably won't revisit, at least not the entire album.
Kinda boring, not my style.
I can appreaciate the sounds thay hace a great, just not my vibe.
Probably slapped in 2007
Great album, never heard the full album before. I probably would've been obsessed if this had come out in my time.
Hits, deep songs, changes of rhythm and very entertaining.
Seems like it doesn't want to be categorized in a genre, just making music they feel, and it happens to be very good.
You may say what you want about Billy, but this makes me separate the artist from the art and look at it as what it is, a great fucking album.
We prayed for times like this. I'm keeping the 5 stars for something mind blowing, but it's a 4.5 really.
Man, this is awesome.
She has such a beautiful, effortless voice she has. Not overcomplicated bullshit, just soul and a message to share with the world. The piano and drums also hit different fasho fasho.
Kinda therapeutic. "That's All I Ask" sent me into a pschodelic trip, no need for substances. Unbelivable.
I feel like if I understood the historial context of the songs, it would be even more enjoyable. I don't usually hear female Soul/R&B singers, this just opened my eyes to it.
Damn, it's really hard to decide between 4 and 5 stars. Probably another 4.5
Damn, not into Country music at all.
I feel like this is a very important artist for the genre and time period, but it's just not my style.
I was considering between a 1 and 2 Star review because a few songs surprised me, but it's not enough to get it to a 2 star.
Sorry if I'm offending a Country fan, just being honest here.
At first I was like: damn another genre I don't like.
But then again like with Nina Simone (I know they have nothing in common) it surprised me.
Very fun in a Stevie Wonder/Marvin Gaye (in some albums) way. Great vocals, great instrumentation (the synths were crazy in Caught Up in the Rapture), nothing to complain about.
Maybe it's not getting a 4 or a 5 because I wasn't captivated enough, that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the album 100% of the way. I'm just trynna be tough with the scores because I know there are some bangers coming my way.
Also, Nina has one star more because she's just built different.
Enough said!
Pop bullshit. Doesn’t deserve more words than that.
5/5. TPAB clears tho
I need more time on this, listened to it on the background
What can I say about this? Not my favourite but a masterpiece 100%.
I like The Doors, not my favourite album from them tho.
It would help to understand what moment of their career they were going through and the historical context also. But the sound itself wasn't very appealing for me at its face value.
Hopping to get another album from them in the future to make it right.
