Very enjoyable. There's some surf, some "space rock", definitely some '90s britpop (duh), punk leanings and a little Ween thrown in to offset some Beatles. Fun album.
Good, but not great. Would have rather another De La or Tribe made it. Or RUN-DMC or Sugarhill Gang made it at all.
I enjoyed this. For the most part, nice bluesy-rock throwback. Definitely toned down from the White Stripes.
Not very well versed in Jazz. This was enjoyable, if a bit "chaotic" reminds me of a busy urban street corner with the sounds passing through.
Slightly better than I expected it to be. But, if you know CSN, you pretty much know what you're getting with this one.
On first listen, I thought "well, I like parts x, y and z..." and with one exception* each time those parts were by somebody else.
*the organ on Old Times Good Times. But, you've got Jimi on that, so put your organ way.
No snark, no sarcasm. As someone who doesn't like the majority of country and pretty much only knows Jolene and 9 to 5 (off the top of my head) by Dolly Parton....
this is an amazing album from start to end. 8.5/10
Lives up to the hype, if the hype is only scoring around 7.5/10. This is my first listen to it as an album instead of just some of the singles. Solid from beginning to end. It’s also influenced so many other albums/bands that it’s really hard to judge it in a void.
9.5/10.
Kashmir gets all the glory, but the whole album is amazing. (Kashmir's not even my favorite Zeppelin song, much less favorite on this album.)
8/10. Solid through and through. If Rap/Hip Hop ain’t your thing, it’s still worth a listen with a couple of judicious track skips. But, let’s call it a gateway drug. Let’s call it eating your veggies. Listening to this is good for you and will open a whole new world of art. (I’d still go with Low End Theory first, but we haven’t gotten there yet, so take this for a ride until we get there.)
I now want to go to Tomorrowland at Epcot and listen to this all day.
Great production. Almost more a soundscape than an album. Wikipedia says it's about sex and intimacy. I hear a lot of vulnerability, too. Looking forward to some re-listens to see how it grows on me.
A love album that seems to go from beginning to end, but with the end being happy and the end not being the end, but just the next day in the journey. i look forward to revisiting in 5, 10 years to see how my feelings change towards it as i change. beautiful piece for introspection.
This album is fine, but I don't see it as sticking out from anything else made during that era in which this would be one of the 1,001.
It's fine. Thoroughly average.
On the first listen, too much to absorb all at once. Best to let it wash over you and hope for the best via osmosis. Hard to overstate how it changed the genre and "pop" music at the time as well. It's got it's points where it drags, though. I'd give an extra half a star if it was about 10, maaaaybe 15 minutes shorter.
It's Iggy and Bowie, so comparing to their other works, "Good, not Great."
But, that's a higher bar to set than for most. It's worth it. A great listen. But, not the first album I would grab from either of them if I were in the mood to listen to one of them.
I am not a big fan of the 80s, 80s music or dance music. Yet, this was pretty fun. The lyrics were vicious and often undercut the peppiness of the music. Given my predilections, I enjoyed it more than I expected.

as close to perfect as is probably possible. a break-up album, but so much more. buckets of rain, alone, is worth the price of admission.
I'm guessing this was chosen because it was influential to a whole genre of music? It's almost good most of the time. Tiptoeing right on the line of hair/glam metal and what Iron Maiden would eventually become.
but, man, Transylvania and Charlotte.... brings it down several notches.
After years of pretty much only hearing the chorus to Bobby McGee, I was led to expect a lot more screeching. Fortunately, this is way better than that.
This is my first listen to this album ever. This is the 26th in this project that I have listened to. I do not know why, but this one was a 10 from the beginning. It.... doesn't seem special. Yet, it's quietly compelling. I look forward to many listens in the future to figure out why this album is "perfect".
A watershed album. These guys were crazy and all over the place at the time. Definitely worth a listen.
This album did nothing for me.
