Some great grooves here and some beautiful songs with vocals that are hard to beat. A little low on variety or innovation. Favorite songs: Respect, Save Me, and A Change is Gonna Come
Just about every song is fantastic and so many classics. Good variety and plenty of energy. A little dated in production though. Favorite songs: Moving Out, Vienna, Only the Good Die Young
Not really my (pearl) jam. I find the singer annoying, long self-indulgent and uninteresting guitar solos, and not melodic enough for me. The lyrics are interesting and I appreciate the well-produced grunge vibe they found. More enjoyable when they slow it down. Black is by far the highlight for me. Favorite song: Black
Really enjoyed this, my first full Wilco album. Interesting instrumentation, beautiful melodies, good lyrics, and enough variety while keeping a consistent vibe. Favorite songs: Jesus, Ect., Reservations, Radio Cure
Easy listening with great vocals and a classic sound. The songs are mostly forgettable and not too unique, with quite cheesy lyrics and production. Favorite songs: Just My Imagination, Lay Your Lovin’ On Me
A good listen, with great performances and plenty of variety. The more country blues songs are not my style, but it’s still a fun album to listen to start to finish. Favorite song: Wild Horses
Stocked with classics and eternally enjoyable, with Sinatra’s voice constantly pulling you in. Favorite songs: I’ve Got You Under My Skin, You Make Me Feel So Young, and Makin’ Whoopee.
Liked it more than expected, but not my typical style. Really strong messages and dynamic instrumentation/production. Favorite songs: Can’t Truss It, I Don’t Wanna Be Called Yo N***
I didn’t like this one. Not sure I’m qualified to comment on it, but I couldn’t wait for it to be done. Favorite song: they bled together and nothing stood out as enjoyable
The album was uneven but overall an enjoyable listen due to great vocal performances. I could have done without the incessant vocal runs on disc 1 though, and disc 2 music was more interesting. Lyrics were corny throughout. Favorite songs: Welcome, I Got Trouble, Ain’t No Other Man
Some great melodies and easy listening at its best, but not as mind blowing as I expected. Abrasive at times. Favorite songs: Sunday Morning, I’ll Be Your Mirror
A really strong album with interesting music and meticulously thought-out production. I enjoyed it more than I expected, though it isn’t my favorite style of music. Favorite songs: Freedom, What’s Golden
Strong album, with interesting and dynamic production. The songs don’t really stand out but are all cool. Favorite songs: It’s Great When We’re Together, Even After All
Love this album, and listened to it on my mom’s old vinyl record. Great melodies, fun vocal performance, strong lyrics, and Joni mixes in jazz in a cool way. The album isn’t 100% consistent but worth listening to the end. Favorite songs: Help Me, Court and Spark, Free Man In Paris, Twisted
Pleasantly surprised by this one. Very melodic with intricate instrumentation and unconventional production that makes it stand out. I think my high school self though I was writing songs like this, ha. Captivating bass, but I got a little tired of the singing voice by the end. Favorite songs: Not Ready Yet, My Beloved Monster, Guest List
Pleasant enough, but too reliant on a single, overly melodramatic sound. So, pretty at times but boring. Favorite song: Fistful Of Love
Frank’s voice elevates this almost entirely one dimensional album. They seemed to really like their sound, and they performed well, but I think it could have been an A-B single instead of an album. Favorite songs: The Girl From Ipanema, Sinatra/Jobim Medley
This one disappointed me. It started out boring and never went anywhere. It’s almost like the songs had no melody, and just relied of the good vocals. Favorite song: Run Charlie Run
My first space rock album, ha. I didn’t really get it, but it was nice at times. But usually it was either boring or hard to listen to. Favorite songs Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space, Cool Waves
Pleasant enough but a little one dimensional. Favorite song: Help Me Ronda
