Very unique album - In my honest opinion, this is a very fun and new sounding album to me however it felt a tad dragged out with a total of 20+ tracks which could be overwhelming to new listeners
Best song - Casmir Pulaski day or John Wayne Gacy, Jr
A Classic - I've never listened to Iggy Pop prior to this album; I can hear and feel the early brit rock style in this project. A lot of the tone and vibes of this project reminded me of the background music of a tony hawk or skate game
Best song - Death Trip
Another classic album - I've never been the biggest fan of zepplin but I cannot deny their contributions to music as a whole collective. With that being said this project was pleasant to listen to front to back, it is hard to conceptualize just how old this project is and what era it was released during despite its high-quality sound and timeless energy. Although this project had a lot of pretty bland low points it is still a great album and a must listen for all music enjoyers
Best song - Whole lotta love
What an album! - Where to start. First off, this style of music is right up my alley, so this was a pleasant listening experience, it somehow felt familiar but brand new during active listening, impressive considering this album is from 99'. I was intrigued at the usage of different styles and moods with the composition, I understand nothing lyrically from this album due to the language barrier present between myself and the authors, but that does not shake the fact that this is a very well thought out experimentative album that blends the bridges of similarity between our worlds without drowning out the uniqueness that envelops the sound
Best song - Svefn-G-Englar
First front to back Radiohead experience - This was a surprising project; I've never been keen on radiohead as it feels a lot like an acquired taste (no passing judgement of course) The quality of the composition and mixing of what feels like a million elements going on at once compliments the stage of life that listeners may have heard this album in that being young-late adolescence, where your entire existence is composed of the unknown and the fear that lingers as you make your way through it all
Best song - Just
C L A S S I C - The album that put Metallica into the mainstream music scene. This album has a lot to offer however there are a few pitfalls in this project that most fans of metallica would not have expected to hear this late into their careers.
To start, this project is deathly slow compared to earlier works. The complete tonal shift from 'And justice for all..' to this is a big jump. Although this new style isn't horrible, it is noticeable for those looking for more of metallicas thrash sound.
With that said this album felt more like a victory lap than another thrash project which is respectable. Given the style of music Metallica made prior to this release goes to show how influential their sound is, it managed to transcend the need for genre labels and unified people under the art of sound.
Best song - Sad But True
Damn. - This was one of the more emotionally heavy projects on this list so far. I was not able to grab the true meaning behind it on my first listen through, but a lot of the tracks were throat lump worthy.
for me personally, this is a very special album stored away for a very special occasion where everything around you crumbles and all you can do is watch and hope the real you makes it through.
Very emotionally charged and does a good job at relating through unique relation niches but this isnt something one would throw on an aux cord
Best song - People aint no good
Odd. - A unique sounding 'rock' album. Not my cup of tea personally. The project seemed to drag in a lot of spaces and any bits where the artists attempts to take an unorthodox approach you're left with a very 'wtf' feeling after hearing a lot of the tracks, it somehow falls very short of what I would personally consider rock. Not discrediting Lou Reed however this album was very very boring musically but holds weight and meaning behind the lyricism
I fkn love AM - The debut album of one of my favorite bands, this project blends a lot of indie elements which at the time were considered revolutionary because that style broke out of the social norms of what was considered acceptable music. Everything about this album is near perfection, from the composition to the production, to the lyrics. Not one inch of dead air in this whole project.
Best song - When the Sun Goes Down
Surprise album - I did not expect to like this album as much as I did, it has a pleasant classical sound but also a modern upbeat swing behind it. I researched a bit about this album after the fact to find out that Steve Winwood played all of the instrumental sections by himself throughout this entire project, which is a practice I respect deeply and full heartedly
Best song - While You See a Chance
Goated - Bob Marley has such a distinct and versatile discography, and this project falls nothing short of great. This project has a more matured sound as this was pretty late into his career, but it still manages to sound new and unique
Best song - stir it up
Masterpiece - Ye's first solo studio project, this album revolutionized the hip hop sound scape from the early 2000s onward. Taking an unorthodox approach to rap, Ye managed to mashup gritty hip hop drums with accoupling chops of soul music which results in a unique and must listen to for all hip hop/music enjoyers. Definitely one of the most influential albums of the 21st century
Best song - Slow Jamz
Sample central - listening to this project for the first time I heard so many samples from this project thats used everywhere else. From the vocal chops to the melodies to the drums, you will hear at least one sample that you have heard elsewhere guaranteed. with that said this was a pleasant project to listen to, the fact that it was released in 89 is nothing short of impressive, sounds super new despite its age
Best song - The Pros
