1001 Albums Summary

First half was a vibe, second half put me to sleep. Holistically, I'm struggling to see where the genius of Ray Charles is at.

This album was like trying to drink that A&W chocolate sundae flavored soda. You try gas-lighting yourself the first few songs into liking it, and then it just takes a nosedive so hard you can't even finish the album. I couldn't stand this album after the first two songs.

I'm usually not a fan of these "anti-concept" albums. Nonetheless, The Beatles have made a stunning one, and it was absolutely worth the full listen.

Ain't half bad, just not my cup of tea.

After hearing Speakerboxxx, I was so ready to give this album a 5/5. It was so thrilling. Unfortunately, The Love Below was not satisfying, but that almost doesn't matter because of how great Speakerboxxx was. Thus, I only docked one point.

I'm gonna have to go through the whole discography now!

Instrumentally rich and catchy, and lyrically endearing in an unsettling way.

I wasn't enjoying the sound of this album, but I understood there might be lyrical merit to it. I looked up the lyrics, and I liked the albums lyrical rejection of black-and-white thinking. This is the only artifact I can appreciate.

Kings of Leon isn't trying too hard on this album. And honestly, that rocks.

It's so bad. Make it stop. Please, MAKE IT STOP.

Was it unlistenable? No. Was I going to listen to listen to all 2 hours and 10 minutes of it? Absolutely not. If you've heard one song on this record, apparently you've heard them all.

Parts of it hit home emotionally, but it was a little too dreary overall.
