Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Jul 30 2026

I like Four Women. It's the song that grabs me the most. Some of the others are softer and background-y. Lilac Wine and I Love Your Lovin' Ways also are strong, if not quite the punch of Four Women. Black Is the Color... is famous but this might be the first time I've thoroughly listened to it. I really like how Either Way I Lose starts, even though sometimes I don't like those clever affect-y touches. This is all such a good mix.

Jul 31 2026

I has this on cassette, and the first three tracks were massively widespread and it's almost impossible to listen to this album "fresh." But, it's a really good idea to listen. An album of bangers but also a complete work that is stirring, vivid, and deep. Forgot how much I like Running To Stand Still and Red Hill Mining Town.

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Aug 01 2026

So like - I sometimes call Simon and Garfunkel one of my all-time favorite groups. And that is all based on their other albums - Parsley, 3 a.m., Bridge - and while I obvio know America and the famous songs from Bookends, I never bought it. And it's fucking weird. A "concept album" indeed. I mostly ignored the weird mumbling and just sang stuff.

Bad Company by Bad Company
Aug 02 2026

I like side 2 better! Lots of stuff about moving on and doing stuff my way and Seagull is a good track. The hits ate fine though. Overall it's fine.

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Aug 03 2026

It's fine... a little too jazzy for my tastes but very good and I respect the hell out of him and all his music, obviously.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Aug 04 2026

Meh. I've listened to this album before, both in pieces and in an attempt to sit down and love it. I know she is talented and innovative and all that, but the sound of her up & down vocalizing is too chirpy & volatile for me. I love some of the songs though, particularly as covered by kd lang and Indigo Girls! Ha

Purple Rain by Prince
Aug 05 2026

There is not one enjoyable thing about the song Darling Nikki. The rest of this album is OK but so overrated. Yes, I listened as a complete album while cruising down the highway, trying to give it a chance, even after 40 years of meh! hearing the singles. Ugh, Prince.

Aug 07 2026

Tiresome. Yes they are doing fun talented inventive things with music. They would be great background music at an outdoor beach or backyard party. These songs are thoroughly interchangeable.

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Aug 10 2026

It's really good music. I can sit and chill, have it play in the background or even while I drive. But AS an album it doesn't speak to me. It's quality, though.

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Aug 11 2026

Ugh, it's fine, whatever, so not for me
