American Idiot by Green Day
Aug 06 2026

Don't love that they use the R-Slur in Jesus of Suburbia. Boulevard of Broken Dreams still gives me chills though. That opening feels so ominous and achy. One song left so I figured I'd wrap up my thoughts and as always, I enjoyed this album. It's truly a classic. I love anti-establishment in music. Its always a BOP.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Aug 07 2026

Immediately, I love it. 2 minutes in and its a BOP! Little umbrellas made me a lil sleepy.... its taking a chiller tone which is totally fine but also its like 10 am on a workday and I havent slept well this week so not helping. haha I keep finding myself wiggling and groovin' :) Overall, hot rats was great... a nice instrumental jam sesh.

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Aug 10 2026

This guys voice reminds me of a song from a old timey playlist i listen to on youtube... the halloween one i think. Maybe they sang a holiday song way back when? I don't know if this is up my alley. 50's and 60's music is my least favorite time period... im giving it a chance though. Run Run Run is kinda cool... the beat is nice. I can see how this shaped the future sound of lots of rock genres, like indie and alt. So now that this is wrapping up, my inital assesment was correct. I don't think this album is for me but im PRETTYYY sure that i do like a halloween song from this band haha.

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
Aug 11 2026

My initial reaction to this was EXCITEMENT because I love Frank Ocean. His music has helped me survive some shit. Should be interesting to listen to some of his early work. Oh man the Sweet Life ending was such a jam. I could have listened to just that instrumental for hours. Super Rich Kids was a bop... i get how it would be great for a piano bar. Love the guitar riffs at the end of Pyramids. Well we're wrapping up and even though I enjoyed my time, I expected more songs to stand out to me than they did. That could be an issue with me though... because Swim Good was so impactful to my life that nothing will ever measure up to that song for me. Overall I enjoyed it and would totally listen again but no songs made the playlist this time.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Aug 12 2026

Again, I feel like I recognize the voice of this person singing but the name Dire Straits means nothing to me. I have a feeling I will like this album though. Its giving pop rock with its first song and I love me some pop rock. Wow, the words "I want my MTV" are a throwback for sure. OMG wow.... the f-slur is like a lot... yuck. i get it was a different time but still ew. Well, walk of life just came on and now i know why i recognize their voices... and i hate this song. I will try and listen objectively... i will say, i always thought he was saying do the walk on by. I guess its good to know its Walk of Life. lol but i still don't like it. Its just way overplayed. Gotta say, I love a trumpet. Realized several songs have gone by without me even noticing them. Well, this was my least favorite album so far... looking forward to whats next though.

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Aug 13 2026

The first song to stand out to me is The Beat! Its catchy and jammy. I dont believe I've heard of this artist either. Theyre voice doesn't sound familiar and I believe I already heard their big single before the beat played. omg well PUMP IT UP just came on and i totally know this song. its a good one too... i added it to the playlist! the second song to make it. which makes me nervous lol do I have bad taste? hand in hand is also catchy! okay so after the album ended, it was still just okay. :) but i enjoyed it
