Popular Reviews

Horses by Patti Smith

Another that feels like 4 1/2. So richly evocative of its time and place, so let's call it 5. Still exciting.

God, incredible. I should never again go this long without listening to this all the way through

Trio by Dolly Parton
Aug 27 2026

I wanted to like this more than I did. "The Pain of Loving You" was my favorite. I don't feel right giving this less that 3, even though I am giving my personal reactions not "oBjEcTiVe" assessments.

Murmur by R.E.M.
Aug 28 2026

Not my favorite REM but pleasant Favorite tracks: Radio Free Europe, Catapult, We Walk

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Aug 29 2026

Solidly my second favorite Arcade Fire album. Tracks 1-4 still hit so hard. "No Cars Go" remains my favorite, even if I'm still partial to the EP version. Maybe more like 4 1/2 but hey.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Aug 30 2026

Perfection. Never gets old. Another one I should listen to all the way through more often

Remain In Light by Talking Heads

Pleasant dance music all around. Almost all tracks sounded like the kind of thing you'd put on a playlist and call it a deep cut. "Once in Lifetime" only real standout track.

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

Oooooof. Atmospheric bummer. Neat in a way but I did not enjoy it. 2 or 3? Let's go 2?

Liege And Lief by Fairport Convention

I LOVED THIS!! I will absolutely be putting this on in the future!!!!

The Grand Tour by George Jones
Sep 04 2026

Neat! A style that isn't really intuitive to me so I have to put. little effort in. Clever. I'd like to push myself to return to this.

Killing Joke by Killing Joke

Fine. Maybe 2 is low. I thought I'd like this a lot more than I did : /

Well, it was certainly interesting. Like Supertramp by way of Ween. I could see putting this on again, once in a while.

Rocks by Aerosmith
Oct 20 2026

pleasant but I can't imagine reaching to put this on again

The Contino Sessions by Death In Vegas
Oct 22 2026

pleasant enough, not likely to return to this. Very late 90s though - maybe background for a very specific kind of evening

Time (The Revelator) by Gillian Welch

Lovely. I'd put it on again. Lyrically and musically it kept pulling me back to attention.
