Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan

This is a 2 for me personally, 3 generally. I didn't hear Bob Dylan growing up and when I tried listening as a teen, I found the singing-speaking and nasally tone too much. Same thoughts 12 years later, but at least now I can appreciate the poetry and lyricism. Would probably be a 5 if I only read it.

Blue by Joni Mitchell

Fascinating rises and falls, melodically and thematically. Obsessed with My Old Man

A deeply sweet reminder of Cuban music's duality: the rhythm and beat entwined with lyrics of lost love, violence, death, and disaster.

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Sep 16 2026

Could be described as an album you put on when its drizzling outside and you don't want to go anywhere. The Cure definitely has better albums (more cohesive, more technical) but there's something there after listening through start-to-finish. I could easily see myself returning to this again. I wouldn't recommend this as The Cure Album but it fits well in their discography, and I like the dreamy, smeared effects and echos in the tracks.

The backing tracks and loops drove me crazy until I realized it was intentional to make you focus on the songs/lyrics. Flows like honey, stings like a bee

Superfuzz Bigmuff by Mudhoney

Type of album that bleeds the songs together like links in a chain, to the point it's hard to tell the difference between them all. Not a bad thing but 2 hours of noise is a specific type of mood

Arc Of A Diver by Steve Winwood

A nice solo experiment, nothing groundbreaking but still smooth for easy listening
