Nice funky sexy album.
Easy to listen to.
Very GotG, could easily have been a Starlord Gamora tune in there.
4.5/5
What a terrible opening track
This is so so boring
All of a sudden the songs improved dramatically and then I realised the album was over and I was listening to Radiohead
2/5 - its at least tolerable so I won’t give it 1 (or 0) stars
Cracking opener, starts with high energy.
There are some absolute tunes on this album (Fake Tales of San Francisco, Red Light Means Doors are Secure(d) — listened to these as a teenager) but when you listen to them all together back to back as the album I don’t think they shine quite as much. The album has a cohesive sound but perhaps a bit samey. Or maybe it’s because the version I listened to had RLMDAS 3 times in a row and PVIABSB… twice in a row. Either way;
3.5/5 - just shy of very good
Not as bad as I was expecting. Definitely not a Lennon fan—Ringo Starr’s voice was lovely though. An interesting mixture of genres coming through throughout the album. Folk, country and maybe even a smidge of gospel. Then some of the usual rubbish as well.
2.5/5 - one or two tracks were a pleasant surprise, but overall very mid
Unfortunately couldn’t give this one the listen it deserved, but really loved the vocals. Enjoyed listening to this one, and I’ll give it another listen when I have time.
4/5 - perhaps unfairly judged (high or low), but what I heard was very good
Absolutely cracking opener, what a tune! Been stuck in my head all day. Album definitely drops off in quality as it progresses, quite meh in the middle. Ah well!
3/5 - certainly not bad, but neither was it great
This album gave me a feeling of nostalgia despite never having listened to the album before. The only song I recognised was Mrs. Robinson. I enjoyed this album, although some of it was a wee bit samey.
3/5 - slightly above average, not much more to say!
I started off liking this, but it was just really boring and I struggled to finish it. It wasn’t unbearable, so for that reason it gets 1.5/5
Really enjoyed this album! Maybe it’s the Tony Blackburn effect… I’m sure he’s played The Zombies on his Saturday morning BBC radio 2 show before. I thought it was a really good listen and I enjoyed going back to relisten.
4/5 - had me wanting to get up and jig
However many times I’ve heard the song Born in the USA is too many. The saxophone on Darlington County commits unforgivable atrocities. After that the album is fine. I’m on Fire and My Hometown are probably my favourites.
2/5 - below average, probably won’t listen to the album ever again by choice
An excellent example of the direction Hip Hop was taking from the late 80s into the 90s. Really enjoyable album, with eloquent lyricism and great mixing. She Watch Channnel Zero? probably my top track (excellent guitar, a wee bit Run DMC perhaps—a good thing)
4/5 - great album with enough variety to stay interesting to the end
I hadn’t listened to much Rolling Stones until now, but enjoyed this album (the U.S. version). I must admit that some of the lyrics and themes were questionable, but the music was good.
3/5 - good album, not much more to say
What on earth did I just listen to? It started off interestingly but then dropped me into a state of insanity. Was it surf rock, nursery rhymes, the soundtrack to a horror film, or psychedelic rock? What a trip.
1.5/5 - kept me on my toes, will listen again if I ever take mind altering drugs
Wow! What a cracking album. I’ve never given Metallica much of a chance before having grown up with a family who were staunchly against “metal”. So glad to have finally gotten around to listening properly. I’ll be popping this on at the gym or on the bike for sure!
4.5/5 - fantastic. Just missed out on a 5 because there are other albums I know I enjoy more
