Disintegration by The Cure
Sep 26 2026

A distinctive sound and mood. When you want or need that - to burrow down into loss until you reach moments of transcendent beauty - then there’s not much better than this. When you’re not, it can be a bit annoying and repetitive.

So by Peter Gabriel

Great album, but oddly not great as sunny-day-driving music. Something about it felt incongruous as I was listening while driving to the market today. Production techniques, perhaps? Still enjoyed every song on it, though. The most popular ones less so, but they are actually holding up for me.

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Sep 29 2026

Tough one for me to rate. I really don’t like Donald Fagen’s voice, and the sound carries some old 70s baggage, but I enjoy the more purely musical parts and, oddly, the harmony vocals. Listened on my ipad, so probably not the fairest test.

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen

Some good, dark songwriting. A bit too even in tone? Or is that part of the point?
