Ian MacDonald and Michael Giles concoct a potion in their lab that extracts every bit of fun from a King Crimson album. Very talented guys and KC is pretty much the greatest band of all time, but this is very much not my thing and lowkey highkey kinda boring.
Hard to find and probably not worth the effort.
McDonald and Giles is hippie prog, so I really wasn't looking forward to it, but it's not terrible so I'm alright with it. Of course, most of it is just meandering crap but The Workshop is groovy and Birdman - The Reflection is a sweet and subtle closing track that leaves you with a better feeling of the album than ran through most of it. Plus this is one of only two records in existence/that I know of that mentions Turnham Green, which gets the Mick Foley cheap pop from me as a local, so all in all a 2/5 that could've been loads worse.
I was only able to listen to side A of this project. Not sure if side B carries a different tune, but this overall sounds a bit dated. Really very drum heavy and tries to carry the album with this. Hopefully others had a better shot at finding and listening to the full album.
There's some small amount of promise here as the start of a few pieces has a mellow Beatles feel to it, though unfortunately it goes into the jazzy, noodling, prog rock experimenting that is pretty tiring to listen to.
Rock progresivo. Un tanto aburrido. Un 2.
Rating: 5/10
Eh. It wasn't particularly good or bad. It was just there. No need to revisit it.
I thought we were finished with this shit.
