If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas

Too LA faux hippie for my SF tastes. The only boring act at Monterey, but kudos for putting it together. Is this going to be 1001 white people? Just checking.

Os Mutantes by Os Mutantes

This is so dated and not in a good way. Too late for a first listening. Points for originality, but way too busy and all over the place. That was probably the point but just seems annoying to me. Nice song titles.

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Sep 17 2020

Memories of 9/11. Heartbreaking and inspiring in the current crises.

Groovin' by The Young Rascals
Sep 18 2020

Back in the day I thought this band was sappy. Still feel that except for the great Groovin (life would be ecstasy, you and me endlessly groovin'....superb lyric) and How Can I Be Sure and You Better Run. My favorite is missing: I Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore. Felix P great singer just needs better back up and more better songs

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Sep 21 2020

Definitely not his best. Memphis orchestration, though usually great, is way too much here. His covers just make me want to hear the originals (Only the Strong Survive - Jerry Butler, Any Day Now - Chuck Jackson). In the Ghetto was offensive at the time, horrible now. He still had his voice though.

The Band by The Band
Sep 24 2020

My favorite Band albums are Big Pink and Rock of Ages (Don't Do It best cover ever), but love Cripple Creek and Jawbone. I want to dislike The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, problematic at best, racist at worst, but Levon's vocal is so incredible, it hurts my brain!
