The Pretty ThingsReminded me of The Beatles at times, pretty easy to listen to, though nothing that exciting or special. Some of the audio mixing at the beginning was distractingly bad, but it got better over time.

His voice is fine but, it honestly just sounds like the same song to me played over and over with different lyrics.
Still very good album, haven't heard it in years.
This is so lame but I actually kind of appreciate that.
It's okay but most of the time I just sort of thought that I could be listening to The Beatles instead.
Pretty good! I think it slows down a bit during the second album (I prefer the first album/part), but it's still enjoyable enough all the way through.
I don't have a lot to say about this one, but I thought it was really catchy and fun. (And a good, short album to follow up after yesterday's pick).
Probably more like a 3.5ish, but I enjoyed it overall. Songs like "Killing Me Softly With His Song" definitely stand out, though I don't think there is anything I disliked. It does drag on for a bit long, though I think I'd listen to it again eventually (but now I will probably just listen to "Killing Me Softly" more!).
More like 2.5. It's fine to listen to but does get a bit boring after a while.
Honestly was bored af the whole time. Lyrics are kind of cheesy like what I imagine reading a monologue in a check-out isle romance novel is like, but that would probably be more entertaining. The album had stopped playing at some point and I was like, cool, it's over, but turns out I had only listened to FOUR SONGS and Spotify had just died for some reason.
More of a 2.5 than a 2. Anyway, I appreciated that some of this reminded me of Bowie, which makes sense since he was a writer, producer, etc. of this album, but it also reminds me of some of his less interesting music. My favorite song was probably the album title track, though I realized I had already heard it from somewhere: it's a Bowie song (according to Wikipedia, it was "produced by Bowie, [and] he gave the song to the band after they rejected Bowie's "Suffragette City." That was a bad decision, wasn't it?)
I think this album grew on me over time. I tend to find a lot of neo-psychedelia/psychedelic rock disappointing, I guess because I expect something interesting and adventurous like Ween, but I end up with what is more easily described as slow and meandering indie rock. While I think a few songs on here fits that description, there are some pretty good tracks on here too ("Earthquake," "Memory Boy," "Desire Lines," and "Helicopter" stand out to me.)
More of a 2.5 than a 3. I don't think at any point I was particularly bored or wanting to not listen to this, but there were also almost no parts that stuck out to me. So it's a perfectly average, fine album to me.
I've already heard this album a few times before. It's lovely.
Thought this was average (more like a 2.5). A few of the songs were nice but he also mumbled so much it got on my nerves?
Oops I'm really behind in this. Good album! I really like the sci-fi vibe and Monaé has a great voice.
Instrumentation was kind of nice, but mostly just kind of boring and never did anything that interesting. Vocals were really grating to me.
I listened to this pretty recently so I thought I'd just rate it for now. :)
lol these people are so high.
(3.5) I feel like I wouldn't like Liz Phair as much if I didn't enjoy seeing her so much in concert (she opened for The Smashing Pumpkins and I barely knew her music beyond "Why Cant I?"), but she does have a cool stage presence and is fun to watch live. A lot of her songs are pretty catchy too, and short and sweet; I never feel like her songs go on for too long. I saw her tagged as "slacker rock" on RYM and I think that's probably a good way to describe her music?
Probably not the #2 best album of all time (according to RYM, anyway) but it's still pretty good. I've kind of avoided listening to much Pink Floyd because they kind of seem overrated, and well, I think they still might be but, it's still good music.
(already heard this a bunch, including recently, so I will just rate it!)
(already heard this a bunch before, will just rate it, 4.5)
Finally felt like getting back into listening to these albums but decided I'd go through the ones I've heard before and wanted to re-listen to. This one is still good!
Heard this kind of recently for the first time, pretty fun overall (3.5).
