Super 70s production - very wide stereo sound, funky bass lines, crunchy guitar and rhodes riffs, soulful singing - lots of love jams. Good to throw on and just vibe. Favorite song: Love is a Hurtin' Thing
Haven't listened to Talk Talk before, and am seriously regretting it now. Fantastic, dream-like songs that have fantastic melodies and are slightly reminiscent of late era Pink Floyd. Definitely listening to more. Favorite Song: I Don't Believe In You
Morrissey may have better albums than Viva Hate, but it's hard to go wrong with almost anything he's put out. Favorite Song: Alsatian Cousin

Definitive 80's glam - huge production, great bass lines and tone, FM synth goodness everywhere. First half of the album is absolutely incredible, but the back half of the album loses steam. Favorite Song: Relax
Everything that made the Stones great - great hard rock soaked in blues. Favorite Song: Torn and Frayed.
Jerry Lee Lewis has some incredible piano licks, and this essentially should be a great live rendition of his greatest hits, but the quality of the recording is scuffed enough that it detracts from the overall experience, rather than making you feel in the audience.

Well, it's certainly a lot of effort and work for a concept like this. I feel like with such a huge list of entries songs are bound to blend together or feel under developed. Magnetic Fields' style also is likely not my bag in general, but there are some real gems to pick out of this selection. Favorite Song: Book of Love
Excellent bass lines with crazy smooth and soulful jazz over it. Can't not groove to it, but so smooth it's always relaxing. Favorite song: Hang On To Your Love
Although perhaps not as great as some of the other efforts (both together and apart) put out by the folk rock Gods, this album shows even at the most contentious moments between them, they are still light years ahead of anyone else. Favorite Song: Almost Cut My Hair

I haven't listened to a full Common album before, and this is not bad with a lot of soulful and funky beats and interesting topics. However, the slam poetry-esque delivery on many of the tracks is not very pleasing to me, and as a result I liked this much less than other tracks I've heard. Favorite Track: The Corner

Although The Verve's sound is very pleasant in it's dreamlike qualities and soaring melody parts, for me most of the pieces have a tendency to drift together, resulting in not a lot of things sticking out and catching attention. Favorite Song: History
I haven't listened to a lot of cuban music so this was a real treat to listen to critically. Well produced with a lot of beautiful musicianship on display. Favorite Song: Dos Gardenias
Not nearly as good or interesting as his later works, Scott 2 is still a great showcase for his fantastic voice and well constructed orchestrations. Favorite Song: The Amorous Humphrey Plugg
I thought this might be too pop-rock for me to really get into, but Tracy's voice is so sublime and there's so much emotion in the both the topics and the songs themselves I found myself entranced by the end. Favorite song: Across the Lines, For You close second.
