The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
Lauryn HillGreat start, but a very long, maybe too long album. However, the highlights make this album stand out.

Didn't like it at first but started to enjoy it somehow after the 3rd track. Not really my cup of tea though, still enjoyable listen.
I only know 2 songs by Kiss and never heard anything else, so I'm curious how a full album will sound. First songs are really strong, but it kind of fizzles off in the half. Definitely not my favourite when it comes to rock or metal.
I actually never heard much from U2. I just know the well known songs and otherwise can only remember the iTunes incident. Beginning slaps hard actually. I really like it. It gets a little meandering from the middle though. But I enjoy the 90's Donnie Darko vibe from it. All in all, pretty good but it got some lengths. Way better than expected though.
Cha-Cha-Chaaaiiin of Fools! That's some seriously old music. Very Rock and Roll for the lack of a better description (well only the first songs) (also, it's actually Soul). Of course I heard the name of Aretha Franklin before, but I couldn't name a track for the life of me. Unbelievable voice full of emotion, nice band with lots of range and cool background singers. I like the way her voice sounds - it's like a slightly scratchy live performance with reverb. It's pretty sad that trumpets disappeared from bands in recent times. The music has definitely some South American Rock and Blues vibes to it. It's not the kind of music I'd listen to regularly but it's actually pretty great. Especially for the time it's outstanding. Honestly, I can't justify giving less than five stars - if just for the voice alone.
Extremely weird album. I liked the wonky Paw Paw Blowtorch song because it was just so whacky. There was another good track on it but the last one (or the one before that) was so egregiously awful that I had to give up. The last song definitely soured my opinion on that album. Won't ever listen to again, I'm afraid. Also, obligatory never heard of that guy.
Extremely tedious to listen to. Definitely nothing you would listen to in the background as I can tell from firsthand experience. Very saxophone/trumpet heavy. Never really gave Jazz a chance. It's not bad per se but I can't seem to dig it much. Maybe it's cause I have little to no exposure in terms of Jazz, but I can't let myself "fall". With my favourite kind of music there usually is this one chord progression, instrument swell, this one part of the vocals paired together with some lyrics that moves me emotionally. This is a whole different beast. I can acknowledge that this is probably good Jazz and there are interesting ideas. However, it is not made for my ears - as of now at least. (In parts it sounds like what I imagine would be the soundtrack of tooth ache if it had one, lol.)
Finally something I know and that I was looking forward to listen to. Though I only listened to selected songs of this album before. I have a difficult past with Radiohead. I tried getting into them about 7 years ago. While some songs were great they just didn't become favourites. There is beauty to be found in Thom Yorke's voice many songs just didn't resonate with me at the time. Now, listening to "The Bends" as a full album I have to say I quite like it. It got high highs and many of them, though there are some lows for me as well. However, the highs outshine the lows in my opinion. I'm pretty sure that this album gets better the more you listen to it. Also, it's got that 90's - putting on your cheap headphones and listen to that album on repeat on your walkman - vibe to it. Favourite songs: Planet Telex, High and Dry, Fake Plastic Trees, Street Spirit
Some really old school Blues this time. Definitely feels like the blueprint of great Blues. Nice listening experience even more than 60 years later. The sound is great especially for a live album. It's really cool but not really one of my favourites. I feel like I wouldn't necessarily come back to it.
The quintessential Metal album. Metallica is just a classic. The riffs, the drums, the singing, the lyrics - it's all around a certified banger. Not even my favourite Metallica album but I can't find anything bad about it. Favourites: Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters
Bob Marley is pretty much the only Reggae artist I ever listened to (actually that list includes Snoop Lion, lol, and Damian Marley - but I think this is where it ends.). This Album sounds more politically charged than Bob Marleys general wisdom about life. Reggae in itself is pleasing to hear - nice to just get in the vibe and nod your head back and forth. However, this album starts off strong and then kind of fizzles out in the end. The songs just don't have the same kind of "X-Factor" compared to Bob Marleys body of work.
This certainly is some heavy depressive stuff. Driving guitars and pounding drums. Not the nicest on the ears but very edgy. If I were to direct a movie and it needed a scene where people hang out in a lost place where everything falls apart and they lost every hope - this would be the soundtrack. It actually has some better tracks but the worse ones drag this project way down.
