Stream of consciousness listening thoughts: Wow, I have seriously been sleeping on early 2000s indie! First few tracks are wonderful. For me, this is something I would listen to more at night to relax because there are a lot of downtempo songs and instrumentals. Love the vibe! Update 13 songs in: this album is starting to overstay its welcome a bit. It's getting a bit too repetitive and the singer's voice is starting to grate...
Stream of consciousness notes: I like prog rock when I hear it, but never have actively sought it out. Loving the first track so far! Interesting that there are some acoustic instrumentals mixed in. I like the flow of this album. I really appreciate songs with a multi-part structure that flow really well together. Starship Trooper and I've Seen All Good People are the highlights for me!
Stream of consciousness notes: Okay, I'm so excited for this! I've been meaning to listen to more Bruce Springsteen for a long time. Jesus, these songs are depressing... Beautiful album, I'm so happy I finally listened to it and will definitely be revisiting! Favorites are probably Atlantic City, Highway Patrolman, and My Father's House.
Stream of consciousness notes: Eh, this is the kind of music where I don't mind if it's on in the background but it's not really my jam. "You're gonna be mine, little girl You've been through 18 years of pain I'm gonna give you a love, child You won't feel bad again" Um...yuck 🤢. I'm not sure I'm going to stick it out for the whole album. Update 7 tracks in: imagine my relief finding out the version of the album I'm streaming is duplicated with the first half being the tracks in mono & second half in stereo! So the album is only 37 minutes long, not 74! I will definitely make it through. I don't have much historical context for this album so maybe it was groundbreaking at the time but honestly it's a little bland to me...
Stream of consciousness thoughts: Yay! I haven't listened to much Pixies, I'm excited. The vocal harmonies are so awesome, especially in Break my Bones and River Euphrates. Oh shit this is the album with Where is My Mind?! Ah such a good song. Interestingly it feels sort of out of place with the rest of the album, way more polished.
Well I couldn't find the full version of this album :( but I get the idea from the 8 or so tracks I was able to hunt down. I'm glad I've listened to him now! You can definitely see the massive influence he had on rock n roll!
I've heard most of the songs from this album but I don't think I've ever listened to it from beginning to end. Awesome!
Wow this is really not for me. I feel like all of these songs way overstay their welcome. Every single song is so extremely repetitive -- they are all around 4:30 but could end before the 2 minute mark in my opinion...
I like Jimi Hendrix, but I have a hard time with this album because it is so long and meandering.
Wow I've gotten so many great albums from this generator!! I've loved this album for a long time :)
I need to listen to more 60s rock n roll! This is fun!
A lot of artists I love are heavily influenced by the Cocteau Twins, so I was excited to finally actually listen to them! Unfortunately I don't like them that much. The instrumentation is so dated to the early 90s, and not in a good way. And I really don't like the singer's voice. It's possible this is intentional, but she's not in tune with the instrumentation a lot (especially bad on the opening track Cherry-coloured Funk). Also, the amount of jangling triangles is out of control...
This is usually not my kind of thing but I'm into it!
I'm just not the biggest fan of easy-listening blues. Nice for background music though.
Stream of consciousness notes: I don't know why but I really don't like Neil Young. It took me almost all day to finally sit down and listen. It's fine so far. None of his extremely annoying songs I already knew were on here so at least it was new to me. For the Turnstiles is physically painful to listen to. Neil's voice just really grates on me.
Pretty fun! Not really my musical style but nice to listen to every now and then. This album is stacked -- has a lot of songs I already knew and liked!
Can't believe it took me this long to finally listen to Sleater-Kinney!!
I know this is sacrilege but I've never listened to a full Beatles album. This one is pretty good, though I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. Too much hype. I've always loved A Day in the Life though, didn't know it was the closer of this album!
Yessss another Yes album!! I am LOVING them! Didn't know I adored prog rock so much until I started this project.
Another beloved band that is a huge inspiration for artists I love who I've somehow never listened to before! So excited! Hmm, I'm not a big fan of the mixing. The vocals are so incredibly quiet compared to the instrumentals. I like it overall, but will probably never listen again...
A modern classic, Adele's voice is so gorgeous. Listening to the whole album is a lot since she sounds like a psycho stalker after 11 songs about the same dude, but every individual song on its own is so good!
all the songs kinda sound the same tbh. fine but I probably won't listen again
