The Next Day
David Bowie
This one kind of blends in with later Bowie (besides the amazing Blackstar). There are some songs here that make me think of "musician's music" from the 90s, like very clean production with some kind of "snappy" bass playing. There are some gems here (valentine's day in particular) but this album has always kind of eluded me.
I do enjoy the Scott Walker-esque "Heat" a whole lot. "my father ran the prison."

Television
I enjoy the guitar work, though I'm not much into an entire album of Tom Verlaine's vocals. I do see, however, the influence on Jeff Buckley's "My Sweetheart the Drunk," since he produced at least part of that album.
I always feel like I should enjoy Television more, but they just haven't caught my ear as a band yet. Maybe it just needs to hit me at the right time.

um, this is really good. The hits "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You" that I've heard a thousand times feel way different in album context. Some of the production is a little "too much" for me, like the strings on "Set Fire to the Rain" grate on me after a while.
"Rumour Has It" and "I'll Be Waiting" were highlights for me.

I've listened to this so many times, one of the pinnacles of rock in that era.
"Kickstand" still sucks, though.

It's a fantastic album, a journey, "take me back to wonderland." I've listened to this many times over the years, and just bought it on vinyl a couple months ago.
"I've got a terrible fixation..."
"Say You'll Go" hits me every time.

The Rolling Stones
I've never been a big Stones fan. This was an OK listen, I knew a fair amount of the songs already. I can see how they appeal to a lot of people; Jagger just doesn't have a type of non-melodic voice that I enjoy. Also, it's so extremely "male" that it puts me off.

A lot of this was, frankly, pretty awesome. Some a bit forgettable. Joe sings in that weird distorted head voice that was popular in the 80s. The singles are great, they were the most well known to me.
Also, Billy's Got a Gun - great song to end the album with.
