It's pretty decent blues country/rock. Looking at photos of Mr. King, you can tell he must be very talented.

I had no idea what this band sounded like. I figured it would be either whiny or noisy, but it's neither. This album is a weird, eclectic array of songs ranging from sounding like Motorhead to Simon and Garfunkel. I was digging the different sounds. Then suddenly, starting with Alcan Road, it got really boring for the last three tracks. Well, at least I enjoyed a good 42 minutes of this.

I've heard of this band, knew it was ska, but I don't remember if I've heard the music before. It's what ska should be, upbeat, fun, and a bit repetitive. I really liked Nervous in the Alley.

Some good stuff like Radio Song, Losing My Religion, and Shiny Happy People (I know a lot of people hate this one), but then also some dull, dreary tracks like Low and the last few. Average. Not sure how this one has a higher global rating than the four albums on the actual list.

I did not know what this was going to sound like going in. Oh, early 2000s emo-pop-punk? I can get behind that. The main list is sorely lacking in stuff like that. No Blink-182, Paramore, 30 Seconds to Mars, Fall Out Boy, All-American Rejects, etc. I was older than the target demographic for these bands, even back then, but I still enjoyed it. Same with this album. I like the energy. There is a song, Life of a Salesman, that talks about how much he looks up to his dad. Wow, didn't expect a song like that!

I had never heard of Jellyfish before. At different times they sound like they are trying to be Queen, the Beach Boys, and the Beatles. Yeah, it works OK. The singer is really good. There just wasn't much that wow'd me.

Yeeaaahhhh, this is the kind of stuff I hoped to find listening to the user submitted albums. I've never heard of Operation Ivy. I would have been 14 when their one and only album came out. First track, when I heard the vocals start, I almost turned it off. I'm glad I didn't. This is, what, hardcore, ska-punk? Cool stuff, fast and energetic. The vocalist kept reminding me of Suicidal Tendencies and sometime the Clash.
Favorite track: Bombshell

Back in the day, I'd hear about how great these guys are, but the only song I knew before listening to this was the title track. Old school hip-hop sounds dated, but it's fun to hear once in a while. I appreciate how clean it is, mostly just rapping about their beats, rhymes, and skills, and not hoes, violence, and vulgarity. Straight Outta Compton would come out the next year and put this kind of hip-hop out of business for the most part. Best track: My Melody. Worst: Chinese Arithmetic.
User album #25.
Snotty indeed. Raw, punk energy and everything, but just barely a 4. Not a big fan of the vocals here.

It was OK. Some of it sounded like it could be a late night talk show band. I don't feel the need to revisit.

I probably have heard this band before, but I don't remember. I think maybe they are considered screamo(?) Let's see...
Well, color me surprised! This is awesome! Sounds a bit like Coheed and Cambria which I love. And I'm 51. I'm not supposed to like this, am I? Oh well.
I didn't really take the emo stuff seriously. I laughed out loud at "I'm not o-fucking-kay!"
Favorite tracks: Give em Hell Kid and Thank You for the Venom.
What the hell, 5/5

If you love epic, girl-sung anime theme songs and Dragonforce, you will enjoy this album, no doubt. In fact, a few of the tracks sounded so Dragonforce-like, I had to look up to see if their lead guitarist played on this. (I don't think he did.)
There were some things I didn't like, like when they lean into the death metal with the growling stuff, and some of the machine gun kick drumming. Otherwise, this is a high energy, pretty enjoyable album, and fills a specific niche I suppose.
I see this has a relatively low average rating here, and I understand. This band is kind of sneered at by a lot of metalheads, and I understand why, but I'm not one of them.

Did another Depeche Mode album need to be added? Definitely not.
Was it better than Violator? Yes, though it had a very dated, early 80s synth sound. Just Can't Get Enough is a very catchy tune. If I listen to a user-submitted album all the way through, it gets at least a 3, so that's what I'm giving this one.

Average sounding 90s rock album.

NERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD!
That isn't to say this was a bad choice -- it's just a nerdy one. (You can make your own judgment of me by my album choice.)
It was unique, I'll give it that. I was interested enough to listen all the way through, but by the end I was ready for it to be over so I could put on some Twisted Sister or something. (I'm basic like that.) There is nothing as good as the song "Eye in the Sky." I think "The Tell-Tale Heart" may have been my favorite. A low 3/5, but definitely listen if you are a big Edgar Allan Poe fan, which I'm not.

The sound quality was pretty atrocious for this, taking a 1/2 point off, at least. Iggy Pop is a juvenile twat. "Baby, baby, where did my cock go?" Come on, man. He was going to Louie Louie regardless of what the crowd wanted, wasn't he? Some of the music was fun, I'll admit.

Of course I've heard of Dream Theater, but I only knew Pull Me Under. It's probably the best song here. I knew the singer sounded like someone else, but I couldn't place it. ChatGPT says maybe Geoff Tate from Queensryche, and YES, that's it! I listened to this a week ago, and can't remember if I was going to give it a 3 or 4. I usually give a 4 if I would listen again, so I'll be a bit generous.

Very, very 80s sounding for a 1979 album. It had a very nostalgic sound to it. The singer ventured into Tiny Tim territory a bit, but thankfully not as much as the earlier album. Maybe this should have been on the main list instead?
Favorite track: Tryouts for the Human Race
Obscure band, at least outside of Australia. I know I've never heard of them. This is the kind of stuff I like to discover. Nothing fancy here, not too serious, just some catchy pop/rock & roll. The vocals kind of reminded me of an Elvis Costello/Van Morrison mix. The music has got some good hooks. I got the Don't Throw Stones > Thru the Window joke. First half of the album is better than second. I'm adding it to my playlist.
Thanks to the user who submitted this one 👍
First time hearing of this band. Hey, this has energy and it rocks. It sure is noisy though. I can't understand a single word of the lyrics. The next song sounds the same. The next song sounds the same. I was tired of all the noise by the end and was glad it was over. Low 3/5.
Never heard of this guy. Well, it is a unique sounding album compared to most everything from this list. I'll give it that. I didn't love anything here, but I also didn't hate it, so average 3/5 rating from me.
Hog of the Foresaken totally rips off a melody from Islands in the Stream, right? I can't be the only one who hears it.
