Nick DrakeNot bad but a bit boring. I enjoyed the few spicier parts like the over sound of 'Poor Boy' and the random brass every now and then. Wouldn't actively listen to it but would work as some nice background music.

The beginning is fun, lots of bangers. It gets a bit bland and boring in the middle but ultimately comes back around towards the end.
I was expecting to like this a lot more just based on other Stevie Wonder songs I know. The longer songs were unfortunately way too drawn out though and they all lost me halfway through. Maybe shorter tracks would have been more enjoyable. Still, there are several good songs. Not bad overall. Favorite Songs: You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, Tuesday Heartbreak, Superstition, Blame It On The Sun
I love 60's pop music and enjoyed listening to this one. It got a little less exciting towards the middle, specifically the slower songs in the second half of Side A. Yet, I could see my self liking all of these and listening separately anytime once I'm a little more familiar with the individual songs. It picked up some speed again for Side B which was needed for me. And then it basically stayed energetic until the end. A really enjoyable record overall if you're into this kind of music. The slower songs were ultimately that I didn't enjoy that much but they weren't bad either. And it also had a few nicely done covers, expected for the time period. Also, I tried to make sure to listen to the original 1964 version so hopefully that is what I found. Just for authenticity's sake. Favorite Songs: Mama Said, You Don't Own Me, Do Re Mi, Twenty-Four Hours From Tulsa, Nothing, Will You Love Me Tomorrow, Wishin' And Hopin', Don't You Know (Yes, I know it's almost all of them but I really enjoy this kind of music.)
Pretty solid stuff. 'Sixteen' feels a bit out of place but an enjoyable piece nonetheless. The two longer tracks feel just a little drawn-out but still good. I might end up liking them a lot more if I give them a few more listens. Songs I Really Liked: Lust For Life, The Passenger, Success, Neighborhood Threat
I have no idea what to make of this. This is not what I would usually listen to as I like music more fit for active listening and most of this album is rather atmospheric. I was torn between 2 and 4 out of 5 the whole time. Eventually I decided to give it a better grade. I think it was a good listening experience and while I don't see myself going back to it too often it was definitely not as boring for me as I thought while listening to the third song. It got way more accessible afterwards. Overall the atmosphere of the entire album was amazing and worth this listen. Songs I Really Liked: Flugufrelsarinn, Ný batterí, Ágætis byrjun
Wow, second Icelandic artist in a row. I've always felt Björk was weird for weirdness's sake. But the album isn't only easy and fun to listen to, it has a strong unique energy to it. I wasn't bored for one minute while listening to this, maybe a bit after 'One Day' and before 'Violently Happy' but even those two songs were enjoyable. Pleasantly surprised overall. Though I'm still convinced that she is actively trying to be weird. Songs I Already Knew: None Songs I Really Liked: Human Behaviour, Crying, Big Time Sensuality, One Day, Violently Happy
A fun listen overall. Short but sweet. I really enjoyed his cover of (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, it was weird hearing it like this but it might be a bit better than the original. Songs I Already Knew: Respect, My Girl, Wonderful World, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction (As performed by other artists.) Songs I Really Liked: Ole Man Trouble, Down In The Valley, Shake, Wonderful World, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
Not exactly my go to music genre but was still enjoyable. Probably wouldn't actively listen to most of it but it was cool having it on in the background. Songs I Already Knew: None Songs I Really Liked: Mannish Boy, I Want To Be Loved, I Can't Be Satisfied, Crosseyed Cat
I love 60s pop music. This one also definitely has some 50s influences here and there but I also like that. Pretty fun album. Not the biggest world changing experience or anything but I don't think it has to be. Songs I Already Knew: Do You Wanna Dance (the Ramones version), California Dreamin' Songs I Really Liked: Straight Shooter, I Call Your Name, Do You Wanna Dance, California Dreamin', Somebody Groovy, Hey Girl, You Baby, The "In" Crowd
Not bad, but it got a bit boring for me after the first few songs. I thought it was going to be like it with maybe a couple more highlights if I'm lucky. But then "The Ninth Wave" part was really interesting. I enjoyed that half of the album a lot, even if not all the songs ended up on my playlist and it also got a little boring towards the end. I think the songs were all twice as long as they should have been because really none of them were bad. Songs I Already Knew: Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God) Songs I Really Liked: Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God), Hounds of Love, The Big Sky, And Dream of Sheep, Under Ice, Watching You Without Me, The Morning Fog
Pretty cool one. Songs I Already Knew: None Songs I Really Liked: Need, Mudride, No One Has, If I Think, In 'n' Out of Grace
I started this whole 1001 albums thing with Nick Drake who I've never heard of before. At least I've heard of Neil Young but this is kinda similar singer-songwriter folk rock stuff at first. Definitely better though, it quickly turns more bluesy and just generally exciting. Except for the 9 minutes long closing track. That was totally uncalled for. Okay, just kidding, it wasn't bad just too long for my taste. Songs I Already Knew: None Songs I Really Liked: Walk On, See the Sky About to Rain, Revolution Blues, On the Beach
Good album. That 8 minutes long track was absolutely pointless though. I vomited up some spicy ramen while listening to it. Obviously it wasn't caused by the song just thought I'd mention it. The serious song playing in the background made it all the more dramatic. Good times. Anyways, Here Comes The Sun is one of the best songs ever and the beginning of the album is pretty good. The second half with the short songs was weird but not bad. It was more like one big song though. Or at least it felt more coherent than the long track from the first side. Songs I Already Knew: Come Together, Oh! Darling, Octopus's Garden, Here Comes the Sun Songs I Really Liked: Come Together, Something, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Oh! Darling, Octopus's Garden, Here Comes the Sun
I was a little sick while listening to this which is sad because it sounded really fun but couldn't fully appreciate it. But I still liked it a lot, definitely going back to it at one point. Songs I Already Knew: None Songs I Really Liked: The Magic Number, Jenifa Taught Me (Derwin's Revenge), Ghetto Thang, Eye Know, Tread Water, Potholes in My Lawn, Say No Go, Buddy, Me Myself and I
Never even heard of them before but liked the album. Songs I Already Knew: None Songs I Really Liked: The Once Over Twice, Universal Corner, It's Who You Know, In This House That I Call Home, Some Other Time, Beyond and Back
Pretty good.
