Tried getting into it before, and while the titular song is pretty cool, the rest of the album just feels so gimicky to me, because of the sound effects.
Ohhh, I remember this album. I haven't listened to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in so long. A lot of bangers on this album. Date With The Night is baller. I like Tick and Pin too. Remember listening to a lot of Black Tongue, back in the day. Maps brings back a lot of memories.
Oh! I compiled a "Willie Nelson Studio Albums Discography" back in 2018, but according to my Last.fm profile, I've only listened through this album in 2017. I only listened to 14 songs though, and only once. The version of the album I found on Spotify right now has track 7 as "Time Of the Preacher Theme - Short Version", which I haven't heard before.
It's a nice album, especially for background music. I've been using it while I study on https://elementsofai.com/ - But none of the tracks really stand out to me.
Down Yonder has a cool saloon vibe to it.
Never heard of this guy before! I like the album overall, but ever since The Sims 2, I've had a bit of a dislike for the cuíca :') the sound it makes really grinds of me. So I don't think that this is an album I'll randomly put on again, maybe just a few of the tracks.
Wow, when Best Foot Forward started I thought I knew what to expect, but because I accidentally had shuffle on, Midnight In A Perfect World came on next, and that was nothing like I expected at all! What a beautiful song. Even going back and listening to the second track Building Steam With A Grain Of Salt this isn't the kind of hip hop album I thought it was gonna be. I had no idea about instrumental hip hop albums.
The Number Song is really cool with that underlying guitar. Gives it a heavy rock / industrial feeling. Same with Stem/Long Stem.
Transmission 2 has such a gorgeous intro.
Honestly, I need to listen to this album a lot more. I bet it'd be great for a late night chill listen.
Not really my kind of music. Too much "talk-singing". Even when he does hold a note for longer, I don't really like his timbre. I may just have to give it a listen another time.
A nice chill album, but other than An Ocean In Between The Waves, the tracks didn't really make an impression on me.
I don't think I'd ever put this on, on my own volition, but it's an interesting album, and I've glad to have listened to it. Bat Out Of Hell and Paradise By the Dashboard Light are catchy. But I was a little put off by the dialog on You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth, haha.
So many of the songs feel like they're 2-3 songs in one.
Multinational Corporations is just noise to me, lmao. But then Instinct of Survival comes on, and the guitars bring some melody. I'm not really into the vocals though, it's been probably a decade since I was into death metal vocals, hahaha.
Still, it's really cool to hear this album out of 1987, because you can kind of hear where bands that came after got their inspiration. Even a nu-metal band like Korn comes to mind, not to mention danish bands like Hatesphere, and a kind of joke band, like Red Warszawa.
So while I dig some of the guitar and drums on some of the tracks, those kinds of vocals just don't resonate with me anymore. Teenage me would've been all over them though!
Other than Just What I Needed, I hadn't listened to The Cars before. But other than Just What I Needed, Don't Cha Stop and All Mixed Up, it's not really my type of music. Don't Cha Stop has a cool guitar track and All Mixed Up is to me more rock'n'roll than the rest of the album.
Absolutely love it. Listened to it on repeat for 2 hours today. Especially Saca Tu Mujer stood out to me, but there were a couple of others too, which I didn't catch the name of, because I was working. So another proper listen is in order :)
Hong Kong Mambo might be the only one I don't care for
I actually had him on my Spotify blocklist, hahaha. If I recall, I just didn't care for his new stuff, and Spotify kept putting it on my Discover playlist, so I decided to block him.
This old stuff is good, even though I'm not particularly crazy about his voice. But the songs are good. I especially dig Sixteen Saltines, I'm Shakin', and Take Me With You When You Go.
The album is good background music. Listened through it twice, while house hunting in Limsa Lominsa's Mist residential area.
Excellent lazy summer rock
