Recognized one, maybe two songs from the radio but not my style at all.
Familiar with a couple radio hits from this album. Duran Duran is generally not my style so the other songs all ran into each other for me.
Couple of classic hits on this album like "Monday Monday" and "California Dreamin'" for a 60s folksy album. Not my style having not been raised on that era of music but I can appreciate the style.
Two radio hits start off an otherwise background music album. 3 stars because "Tiny Dancer" is one of my favorites.
Definitely dug this!
Massive fan of the radio hits "So Fresh and so Clean," "Ms. Jackson," and "B.O.B." The rest of the album, especially the skits - not so much.
Did not like it at all. Not the voice, instrumentation, lyrics - nothing.
Very familiar with the four radio singles but never the full album. the remaining songs seemed to blur together for me but I would be willing to give it a full run-through again in the future.
It was exactly as described. A soundtrack for a non-existent film noir movie. I liked the callbacks to the Hitchcock theme and in some of the song titles. Probably would have likes it more had I seen the movie first.
Enjoyed the full album despite being only familiar with the radio hits.
Multiple radio bangers bolstered by a solid rest of the album. All it neede3d was a little Christopher Walken.
With only passing familiarity with Wu Tang it felt right at home with the rap I heard tangentially during high school. Not a fan of all the movie clips/skits but not so much that it detracted from the album as a whole. Solid beats - no issues as background music if it's on.
A soundtrack that perfectly communicates what's happening but sounds like it's elevator music now. Everyone knows the theme. I really dug the bassline on "No Name Bar" but I didn't come across any crazy standouts.
Maybe I'm Amazed there was only one true standout on this otherwise average album. Would give 2.5 if possible.
I knew "Fake Plastic Trees" prior and that was it. Sounded very 90s and was probably just a few years ahead of my time. I have a feeling it would get 1-2 more stars if I was fully a Gen X'r. Solid alternative music from my initial listen.
Solid album paving the way for what came next.
Only knew "Song 2" before this. Still the only song I know. Typically 90s.
Most of this album did not sound like what I expected from Bad Brains. Like they'd been listening to a bunch of metal and/or Duran Duran.
Solid album. Enjoyed the samples.
