1001 Albums Summary

How can it be less than four stars when it has Tom Sawyer, Limelight, plus a few other tracks that have some highlights?

"It is frequently regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time" despite being infrequently listened to by anyone. Ambitiously creative, but never hooked me.

Easily the worst thing that has happened to me this week.

The Beach Boys rock a little harder than expected. Every song is enjoyable enough, which can be common for a pop group. However, the instrumentation was creative, the guitar had a few interesting moments, and a few chord changes were unexpected. I 3x'd my respect for the Beach Bros.

Breaking Glass Sound and Vision A new Career in a New Town are 5/5. Album is probably 4/5 overall, but I already gave 4/5 to some albums that were trash compared to Low, so I'll get 5/5

I would not have considered this album as "culturally significant", but I guess The Verve are a big deal in Britain. But you know what? So is the royal family and we dunked on those nerds. 2/5, do not recommend.

For the most part, the songs felt very similar to each other. I didn't feel like I was gaining much with each new song. The stand out track is 'One', for which I am adding an additional star.

This album is a bigger disappointment than your dad going out for a gallon of milk and never coming home. While it wasn't quite as bad as Echo and the Bunnyman I somehow hate it just as much. Not a single track on this album has a highlight. No part of this album was memorable in anyway. This is what happens when a group gets Eno to do production and then rejects the majority of his ideas. Album should be titled "Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Drivel"

Spotify suggests this album to me constantly. I listened to it. I do not understand the praise this album gets. Not the worst, but not good, IMO. Looking forward to seeing what other people think.

I don't know. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It was really great at times. I think I need a few more listens. I'll go four stars instead of 3 because it was a sincere effort in being original, which I appreciate.

It did not click for me

This could be Bowie's finest work. Mike Garson makes "Aladdin Sane" one of my favorite Bowie tracks with his avant garde keyboard work. Other great tracks are Time, Watch that Man, Drive-In Saturday, Prettiest star, and Lady Grinning Soul.

Could be a 4/5, but I'm feeling good today

'There Is a Light That Never Goes Out' is the Smith's most famous song, but 'Cemetry Gates' is my personal favorite from this album.

Storms and I know I'm Not Wrong are both good songs. This is my least favorite album with the GOAT lineup.

I had never heard the album version of these tracks before, but had heard most of them live on Yessongs. This was fun to hear and enjoyed having the stage set for Fragile and Close to the Edge (both of which should be on this list)

Last track is a 5, rest of the album is a 3 for me.

Uninspired, though perhaps influential.
