Innervisions by Stevie Wonder

First song ~ Too High ~ draws you in with its jazzy drum beats and soothing synth sounds, Preparing u for an experience. Transitions into each song are beautiful, almost like a page off of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. Nine amazing songs leaving you want more. Don’t be greedy.

Here Are the Sonics by The Sonics
Sep 24 2023

Can’t help but love the raw, gritty, no apology sound of 60s rock n roll. From surf rock to punk rock, the sonics hit you with the Boom and get ur heart accelerating to next gear. Any of these tracks can be used in a Quentin Tarantino film and totally make it a memorable scene. i.e. “Guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it.”

Smash by The Offspring
Sep 25 2023

Blast off with music that will get ur blood pumping and emit 90s teen angst thru pop punk music the only way The Offspring know how to do. This album will have you sweating from the non stop guitar licks and furious fast drumming from track to track. Anticipate pure adrenaline running thru your veins. Accept the transformation.

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Sep 26 2023

unfortunately, after the third track, I felt like I was just listening to one long endless track. The pan flute made each track sound more like a time piece from the renaissance era. I wasn’t sure if wanted to rock out or throw rocks at the band. In the end, not my cup of tea. 2

An amazing album that leaves you feeling like a load of stress has been lifted off your shoulders. The build in Drive is so awesome and mysterious that you curiously follow the white rabbit further down the hole. You won’t be disappointed.

Tommy by The Who
Sep 28 2023

Not typically my style of rock music. But the fact that they were able to illustrate these songs into a playwright is pretty cool. The who is an amazing band but this album isn’t one that I’m gonna write home about. But again, I do appreciate the artistry.

Stardust by Willie Nelson
Sep 29 2023

This was my first Willie Nelson album. His voice was full and light. Each track sounded authentic and meaningful. I can definitely listen to this album on a starry night. Stardust is a must listen and easily a 5! 5

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Sep 30 2023

Dave Grohl in the mix of grunge/post grunge rock n roll releases his first album without Kurt and Kris of Nirvana. Definitely a walk on the wild side and definitely not Nirvana. Dave shows his playful side up front and still deep pain between the lyrics with the tragic death of Cobain. This is a good debut album letting you know that there are greater things ahead.

The Blueprint by JAY Z
Oct 01 2023

The enerG! Each track makes you want to bounce ur head. Hip hop at its finest and an end of an era. The blueprint is a masterpiece. Too many bangers to mention so just try to stay still listening to this album. I dare ya. 5

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Oct 02 2023

Very experimental. Opened doors for new sounds such as punk and new wave however; this band was way ahead of their time. Although I would like to say I am a fan of Lou Reed, I just couldn’t get into this album. Sure there are a couple easy listening songs but then there’s nothing special about them either. Each track is either that, very easy or too abstract. I hate doing it, but I’m going one. 1

I’ll admit I never paid too much mind to this album besides Electric Feel for its discoesque feel that gets you to vibe, but the arrangements and lyrics really lifted my eyebrow to ask “is this band for reals?” Dark coming of age stories with happy overtones to disguise the actual pain and sadness of the songs. I think I’m going to be paying more attention to this band and definitely to this album. 4

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
Oct 04 2023

You’ll Instantaneously hear core roots of the industrial sound. The synth pop sound with heavy metal. Obvious influencers to bands such as nine inch nails, Marilyn Manson, Gravity Kills and Ramstein. This album definitely flows from one track to the next but if you aren’t a fan of industrial, you may find yourself asking “WTH is this?” Definitely not for everyone, but because this band helped the movement of industrial music, it’s pretty cool to hear how it started and evolved. 2

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Oct 06 2023

This artist is just that, an artist. I really enjoy his modern take of RnB/Funk n soul but yet still able to find a way to incorporate the roots of these genres from the 50s and 60s. After listening to his two previous albums, I feel like so much weight is lifted from my shoulders. Definitely need Kiwanuka for the heart, mind and soul. 5

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Oct 07 2023

Yes! This is an album you just want the blood in your veins to absorb. From the rolling snare to the raindrop crashes on the cymbals. This album can easily be the theme music to your daily life. Brubeck and company definitely filled in all gaps that could be filled in creating this track. Sit back and enjoy. 4

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Oct 08 2023

I can hear some influences from Rolling Stones, Eagles and The Doors but still managing to bring a Midwestern Rock feel. I mean, cmon, it’s the BOSS. You’ve got 12 great songs that you’re gonna love. My favorite is ~I’m on Fire~. I can listen to this song all day. You’ll find urself strutting or whipping ur hips back n forth Throughout the album. Don’t hesitate, drop the pin to the record. 5

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Oct 09 2023

I feel like there’s an album that is released that redefines a genre of music every 7 years or so. This is that album. You can hear the RnB, jazz and hip hop per track but Janelle opened up this album with classical overture. The rest of the album just flows from track to track. This is indeed an infectious album and experimental. But Damn it works on so many levels. This isn’t an album that is ahead of it’s time, more in the sense of “why hasn’t this been done yet?”

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Oct 10 2023

A redefining of the Gangsta Rap genre. Dre and The Chronic had cats bouncing their heads and their cars. With old skool jazz and funk, riffs and samples, modern day beats layered on them, The chronic was a smash hit. Not to mention, it was also the introduction of the rap/hip hop icon Snoop Dog. Although I’ve never been that big of a fan of the genre, I can’t help but appreciate what this album brought to the music table. It’s time to take a ride. 4

Permission to Land by The Darkness
Oct 11 2023

Have you ever heard of Led Zeppelin? Queen? AC/DC? Well those guys are amateurs compared to this band. 😂 Ok, in all seriousness, this band recycles the mid 70s/early 80s rock sound. This album did commercially well, perhaps due to the popularity of the sitcom That 70s Show. If you dig on any of those bands mentioned on top, you’re gonna love this album. With tasty licks and a soprano voice from front man Justin Hawkins, this one is a keeper 5

Ray Of Light by Madonna
Oct 12 2023

This album was kind of hard to get thru. Only a couple tracks seem like the music and the vocals are meant to be together while the rest of the tracks seem like the two are trying to be dominant over each other. I’ve never thought that Madonna had a great voice, (passable, maybe even good, but definitely not great), but her producers and sound engineers in prior albums were keen on how to lay her voice onto the track which is why she had some iconic albums along with her sex appeal, but this album unfortunately does not do it for me. 2
