Parachutes by Coldplay
Oct 21 2023

don't panic - very well known but i do like the guitar, did take me back to hearing it when i was younger and having it in life insurance adds. shiver - i like the change in pace, the guitar build off is very sexy and rounds of the end of the vocals. i do feel like he could be more expressive tho. spies - gives me grian chatten vibes, having a sole acoustic guitar to start makes me feel closer to the music. i think this is my favourite track of the album. sparks - love me a base heavy opening, builds vibe. could be the modd im in but i do really feel the music, i like the building aaaaaAAAAA's. the use of the same base line through a few of the songs gives cohesiveness to the album Trouble - storytelling aspect is very pleasing, not one of the overplayed songs so got to appreciate the keys, very vaporwave-y. vocals are very clear and the acompanyment give the tonation and set the scene for the song. Parachutes - the bouncing guitar and base have a lovely effect after each line. contrast self realising lyrics with very upbeat and dreamy track. everything's not lost - not as dreamy, much more focus on keys and drums, don't feel it as much. does not have the great open mindedness of the other two tracks, the switch towards the end of the track does open up a bit more, the brass is nice but it does sound like some of the very popular cold play tracks with the harmonising. i thought the whole album was very interesting. i was definitely challenged with it being Coldplay and having my own preconceptions, tracks like yellow and don't panic were particularly difficult. but the rest was very good, i like the lyrics and some of the guitar was particularly good.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis

Very good jazz album that I feel like could have done with a bit more oomph

L.A. Woman by The Doors

The challenging - very interesting mix of church influences with the organ to rock and roll with heavy base Love her madly- stanky keys and guitar. Lovely 70’s guitar twang. Been down so long - really strong blues vocalist with the base and snare drum picking up (so far my fav of album) can definitely feel a big church influence, fun to see how this is incorperated into the more 70's style guitar and the incorporation of blues

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince

Really comprehensive album, like the relaxed vibe. Some really interesting accompanying instruments. Very strong love themes. Much more relaxed and in tune with songs that I like currently. Prince does love his runs and I am here for it
