1001 Albums Summary

The musicianship on the album is undeniable. Some tracks of the upbeat tracks have some minor chords and that's an interesting effect. My only knock is that it sometimes skews a little light for my taste. The album has one foot in the past with Soul elements that remind one of classic motown, and one foot in the future with elements of smooth R&B. I personally prefer the former by a wide margin.

Catch me in the right mood and this album is awesome. It's a little slow and melancholy for everyday consumption. I'm a sucker for steel guitar, and this album has it, so that's a plus. Vocally and lyrically Beck shows why he's held in high regard on this album.

Lovely mix of Latin beats, jazzy tone, and rock guitar. Energetic without being overdriven

Really fantastic acoustic guitar work. Vocals and lyrics are solid.

I don't often wish I was in prison, but this album is enough to make me consider the possibility. What a tremendous voice, and what a charismatic performer.

This is as generic as it gets. Mass produced with nothing to say.
