Violator by Depeche Mode
Dec 13 2023

Already knew: Personal Jesus, Enjoy the Silence. Enjoyed: Policy of Truth, Clean, Dangeroys Enjoying the back half of this album more than the front, which is fairly rare.

Tommy by The Who
Dec 14 2023

Ok. Pinball Wizard rocks. I think I would enjoy this more if I were watching the musical/movie.

Dec 15 2023

Did not realize that the Talking Heads were as “groovy” as they are in this album. Feels almost funk-adjacent. Musically, I enjoyed this. David Byrne’s vocals are hit or miss for me. Songs where he sings more (Take Me to the River, The Big Country) I prefer over his more breathy talk-stutter-sing

Dookie by Green Day
Dec 19 2023

First time listening to the album fully! Just great. So many songs that would come to define the band.

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Dec 20 2023

It’s fine. There’s times where it sounds a bit generic, but there were a few standouts to me—Bittersweet Symphony of course, as well as Sonnet. It’s a bit bland at times, and can run a bit long. Once or twice a song tries to go in an “acid-rocky” type direction that doesn’t really hit. Overall, it’s a 90’s alternative album!

Roxy Music by Roxy Music
Dec 21 2023

Didn’t really do it for me. At times sounded like they were trying to be the Rolling Stones

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Dec 24 2023

I know this had to be influential, but it didn’t really do it for me.

Dec 27 2023

Loved this. Could do without free form guitar, but I get it. Terry Kath is exceptional

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Dec 31 2023

This album made me want to find the nearest disco and tear up the dance floor

Tigermilk by Belle & Sebastian
Jan 01 2024

Really enjoyable indie pop

While it’s not entirely my cup of tea, I can recognize it for what it is and how many hits were on this one album that have stood the test of time. Essentially the album that put her on the map
