1001 Albums Summary

A very Sunday album. Never heard any of Sarah Vaughan before and it was a treat and hearing a musician having fun with her band and crowd is a delight. Live albums aren’t a go to normally but this was a rare gem.

Dad rock. Highway To Hell is track 1, maybe 2 other songs really enjoyed but struggled to get through the whole album. Good to hear more AC/DC songs however it reminds me of growing up and blaring stadium anthems coming from my little brothers bedroom. Can appreciate the ground work this album put in for future hard rock albums.

Rock organs have such a cool sound. Back At The Chicken Shack starts as it means to go on, very cool. Good Sunday morning coffee music.

Listening to this you can hear where the Black Keys got some of their sound from.

A tour through the state of Illinois. Each track tells you a different story. Long album but most tracks are 30 to 45 second intervals and then you’re hit with a story.

What a record! Puts you in a good mood and keeps you there.

Soooooo…don’t know how to rate this one. I don’t know much about Bjork besides It’s So Quiet which, now hearing this album, feels very mainstream. What will say that for a record that came out in 1993 to sound so individual and unique that in 2024 it still provokes a “what. the. f***. Is this” and you just strap in, Bjork takes the wheel and drives you down a high way of a very wild, weird world.

I like a bit of The Boss. I like what he stood for and what his songs have become. I’m not a big fan of this album. I understand the behind the scene politics of it…however this one isn’t for me. Badlands is a great song but I can’t get into the other songs.

If I was a stoner, having rolled my first joint of the day after working for the man behind a desk I’d be more then down to get high and walk home listening to this. I’m not a stoner, I can’t roll joints and I didn’t walk home, I don’t work for the man. Mixed album really.

This how you stamp yourself as being here, loud and pissed off at the state of your country.

I’ve never made an album so can’t fully appreciate how hard it is to make one. I’ve never done drugs. I’ve never experienced being intoxicated. I’m not a fan. This album made me feel high, drunk and increasingly paranoid. It’s like take some drugs as your out for a walk and then you suddenly wake up on a swan pedalo on a lake in the middle of Lisbon with a nipple piercing, hand tattoos, shaved head and an inflatable hippo under your left arm. This one isn’t for me.

Has elements of The Smiths, it’s good. A refreshing listen, nothing taxing about it.
