Fun trippy exceedingly drugged out late 60s band. Very enjoyable!
Sitting at the lab and pipetting does not do this album justice. I am paying it too much attention to enjoy it. There are no ear worms or memorable motifs; I instead feel like my eardrums are being assaulted by an amorous android. Techno lights and at least three shots in a club setting is required to enjoy this. Background noise while writing could also match it.
Enjoyable, pretty consistent album
Rockabilly across the pond, love it.
A lot of the elements that I enjoy (some blues, some alt rock, good vocals, fun lyrics) but the gestalt was unenjoyable
Jazzy soulful with only minimal grunting. The lyrics are odd but the instrumentation and layering are great
Take 5 was great, the rest of the album was fun and jazzy background.
Shock rock isn’t for me. The music for those who “aren’t like other boys” and wants you to know it. Fun instrumentation and lots of influence from late 60s-early 70s rock
The sort of weird I couldn’t tune out nor engage with. Still had some elements I enjoyed but few.
Some great pieces in here, he has a very distinct sound, sometimes it’s to my taste, sometimes less so.
Very inventive, good distillation of his work, not quite to my taste
Ultimate sad boy hour soundtrack, good blend of electronic and instrumentation. “All I Need” and “Nude” stole the show for me.
How fun not too screamy not too verbose not too thrashy just fun guitar licks
Early southern rock and great guitar riffs and lines to make excellent cruisin’ music
Good guitar heavy cruising dad music that made a shockingly compelling album
Meandering with a purpose, enjoyed the guitar and layering, nice vocals
It’s sad bob Dylan with a lot of different musical ideas but a heavy emphasis on vocals
He sure has a sound and really just one lol
Yes it’s satire but boy was this written by a very lyrically talented angry and bitter guy
Some good ideas, some fun songs, most went on way too long for casual listening (at least this casual listener) but would be well suited for the club.
The most interesting part of the album was the snippets in between. Not very memorable overall, enjoyable influence from Latin and jazz beats and motifs.
Disco isn’t quite the genre for me but I do appreciate the impact the genre has had on the sound of most other genres
Willie Nelson at his best. Simple yet intricate arrangements, poignant lyrics, good storytelling.
Still hits in the feels. Enjoyed the influence from electropop and choral layering of vocals and piano melodies. Lyrics and themes are still on point
Not super memorable, like when the Beatles came back post drugs and with a zither. somewhat exciting 60s tambourine, exotic strings and wind instrument fueled album.
They sure had interesting ideas. There was a fair bit of range and variety but not all necessarily to my taste with some songs with a good central theme meandering and not building or concluding in meaningful ways.
Loved it. Like the spiritual sister (in a less croony and more country/western) of Elvis Blue Hawaii. Good fun!
Songs that feel like you got the girl and are driving into your happily ever after. Not a lot of variety within the songs with similar instrumentation and a similar guitar riff continuing through the album but still very fun
Some influence from country/western/rock make it enjoyable but not especially memorable. The song contents (the Christian life) are not as palatable
Loved it, early 2000s alt with strong vocals and guitar rhythms and driving beats
It was aight some good ones
Good! Like stufjan Steven’s more alt cousin
