This was a good album. I think the opening song and some other songs on the album hit hard but I think it had some clear drop off. Also the odd genre switch between songs made it feel more like a bunch of songs rather than a flowing album
Already knew 2 songs on this album, when I turned it on I realised I knew 4 songs from this album. It's a very good album, wouldn't be surprised if it influenced bands like Everything Everything and Foals. The rest of the album is equally good (4/5).
The production of this album I didnt like when I started listening, but each songs production is so crisp when you listen to it. Each riff, each instrument sounds so good together. It initially sounds like a cacophony but it really comes together.
This album has high highs with 'fight for your right' and low lows with 'Paul Revere'
Best songs: New Style, Shes crafty, Fight for your Right, no sleep till brooklyn, Hold it hit it, Brass monkey
I mean rumours is a very difficult album to follow and some of these songs are very good but each one doesn't feel unique and different. They all kind of meld into one.
It's definitely not a bad album and there are some good songs on here. But it's just not got that kind of replayability. It's just quite samey
Adam raised a Cain is a banger the rest is okay to fine
This album is odd. I don't think it's bad but it feels very experimental and a bit all over the place with a psychedelic vibe. Some of the songs I enjoyed more didn't really finish on that big note I was expecting. Like an album version of edging
Even 'Running up that hill' doesn't finish as big as I think it should. It's a good song but it's not a 5/5 for me
I've never listened to Portishead. From their name I thought they would be like Tool. However this album is very Massive Attacks and I absolutely loved it. I live the kind of ethereal sound. Because it felt like a complete album the individual songs didn't stand out as much on first pass but I really liked the album as a whole.
This album is kind of just fine. The songs are okay a little bland and not to my taste. Kind of reminds me of a more boring Foals or Everything Everything
I really didn't vibe with this album. I've listened to a little reggae before and it's not really my bag but this one just didn't hit.
I like some Nina Simone songs but I really didn't vibe with this. And I want to point out I really do give albums a go, I tend to listen to them at least twice. But there were only like 1 or 2 songs that I liked. There's something about the production or something that kind of eats away at my brain when I listen to this
This was a really good album with a bunch of great songs. Cyndi has an incredible voice and the sound of the backing music is ver 80s synth. Because Girls just want to have fun has been played on adverts ad nauseum and it's a great song, can't tell if I like it anymore or not
It's like 60s psychedelic punk? Very odd
So I thought this was not going to be good because I've been burnt a few times with albums I didnt recognise and had been on a bit of a bad streak. I couldn't even guess the genre before I started but this honestly was a vibe. Brazilian jazz funk. Now out of the gate, this album had 2 incredible songs it kind of petered for the rest of the album and it was okay. But it's got 2 or 3 4/5 songs.
From the title of the band I would have thought thrash metal so I was kind of surprised to find it was much chiller. Like if rock did trip-hop... Trip-rock? It's pretty good but some of the songs seem a bit pretentious and experimental but I didn't hate that. Just didn't love it
I didn't know anything about this band before I started, I thought because of the name they were so e sort of 80s punk band. But Dave pointed out I might have been confused with velvet revolver. Which is probably true but I did find out that the velvet underground did spark that movement so who knows. Either way pretty good album, like a slightly rockier beetles or beach boys.
This is a very good album. Probably a 4.5/5 so will decide what to give it. But I've heard only 1 song by pink Floyd before and I enjoyed it but this album was incredibly progressive and chill and just very well performed.
Honesty when you are given an album called The Band by a band called The Band then you don't really start out on the right note. However it is a very good chill 60s country album that kinda kills it. Not a life changer but very good
Honestly I think I would have enjoyed this album much more if it was an instrumental. Bowie really did not add much to this, only bizarre barely sung spoken word poetry of nonsense
I liked the album. It was rather long not going to lie
I would say this is a great album with really great songs. A lot for everyone and the best songs are amazing. I just don't think there is any flow between songs
The more I listen to psychedelic stuff from the 60s the more I am convinced that the Beatles only made it so enormous is because everyone else is just terrible
Not for me. Kind of a weird late 60s pirate vibe
Somewhere between 4 and 5
Good album with punchy songs
Surprisingly good
