Fear Of Music
Talking HeadsGreat album, glad I finally listened. Life In wartime and heaven are both amazing songs, but I think their live performances on stop making sense are better

Fine, probably closer to two than four. Has that smiths kind that made many songs I like, but it drone’s on too long and none of them hit right
Very good at times can get a bit too metal for my taste but excellent. Hurt is a brilliant song, but as they admit cash owns it now
Probably about a 3 and a half. Very good with some high highs, but a bit repetitive and a lot of songs don’t really do it for me.
For me largely pleasant and inoffensive rock music. Interesting guitar and some classic songs. Not one I’d revisit often, but clearly quality music.
I ended up liking this way more than I expected to. It had some of the problems I expected it to have. The lyrics could get repetitive and annoying, and didn’t really say anything groundbreaking( I would’ve expected better for a Harvard political science grad). But, I found myself entranced by the guitar. It is a complete standout on the album and I wish it wasn’t disturbed by slightly preachy vocal breaks as much. Right on the border of 4.
I am generally a fan of the white stripes. For me they have unbelievable peaks, but some pretty big misses. I had avoided this album and just about every song on it and it completely surprised me. It was not the style expected it was quite experimental. Upon one listen I think it might be my favorite album of theirs although maybe without a peak as high as their previous 3. We’ll see how this sits with me over time, but excellent upon first listen.
I am shocked as to how much I liked us. I considered giving it 5 stars just because of the context of many of these songs coming from a 14-year-old with homemade equipment in the 80s off a cassette that was damaged by a cat, but I think it might be too long for me to enjoy actively listening to the entire thing. But for what it is I can’t imagine it being much better. One of the best albums I’ve listened to yet. Wish this site had half stars. 4.5
Pretty good album. Country is definitely not my genre and this is too much for me, but there is quality here. Low 3.
No
Interesting sonically, but gets progressively more boring as it goes on and adds some very annoying pieces( doo ooping and the Timpani?)
Just bad electronic. There are worse 1s but this is annoying and repetitive for way too long
Found it to be generally boring
I misread the title thought I was looking forward to a new roots album I haven’t heard, as I’m a big blackthought fan. The first song caught me completely off guard. But for metal interesting sounds.
High 3. It is incredibly high quality, just not really my style. I much prefer what’s going on?
holds up very well for 80s hip hop. I don't know how much ill revisit it, but quality groundbreaking music that didn;t get boring over an hour.
Interesting, they are all over the place here some really bad stuff but some really good stuff as well. Low 3.
It's good music, but not really my style. I generally got more into it as it went, definitely don't see the electric promised, but good storytelling.
Solid electric. Clearly drawing a lot from Daft Punk, but reaches nowhere near the heights. Enjoyable 3.
Awesome pop rock albums, so many great songs. Red rain and especially in your eyes stand out among a constantly very good album.
Good experimental 80s boosted by the awesome Dear God
great album. His voice as always is not great, but the poetry, musicality, and emotion are amazing. Bookended by the brilliant hey hey my my's.
a lot of fun, songs scan drag a bit and not as refined without byrne, but good music
Went in knowing very little about them and was very impressed for a first listen. Call instrumentals and vocals and felt well ahead of its time, cool to place bang a gong with a band.
Better than previous elvis album, but still not my thing. 2.5
