Oracular Spectacular
MGMT
Some certified dance with your friends hits that are truly classic for a generation.
As an album it doesn't hold me in. A few tracks feel like demos. I think I want to like the album as a whole more than I do. There's potential though and this re-listen made me wonder if I should give their whole discography a try, something I never did. But for me this an album to pull tracks off for playlists.

Chirping Crickets
Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Surprised by how much I enjoyed this album. Maybe I just live the dogs of the era and I don't usually listen to it, or it's just a phenomenal album. Only a couple skippable songs and even they aren't bad. I knew generally who Buddy Holly was, knew if heard songs, but this felt like a proper introduction for the first time.

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs
Derek & The Dominos
Knew it was Eric Clapton from the first track even though I had never heard the song and I didn't know this was a Clapton band from their name.
Trying my best to separate the artist from the art, Layla is an all-time great song. It fucking rocks. It's so good it makes the rest of the album seem not as good. But taken on its own, if you removed Layla, it's still guitar riff radness. It doesn't feel like a cohesive album to me but a group of musically talented folks just pumping out solid tracks.
Don't think I'll listen back to this whole album often but if I'm making a long summer drive, I'll crank it up.

First time I've ever listened to a Led Zeppelin album start to finish. What a dummy I've been.

Queen II
Queen
Is hard to attempt to listen to albums without the knowledge of what the band does after. Glad this generator got me to listen to this album because it's a really amazing foundation to have when listening to later Queen, but I like what Queen becomes more than this. Felt like cool musical education but it's not something I'll return to often. In fact, with all the respect I have for Queen, they in general are a little bit and lots for me. Sometimes their sound is a bit too theatrical for me.

Really cool to hear the birth of a sound. Reading about the state he was in after Kurt's death and how this was recorded, it did make it feel like I was listening to a Phoenix rise. Would I listen to most of these songs again by choice? Probably not. But if I felt like I was in a major transition point I may put this album in as the soundtrack to that.

"Music is supposed to have an effect. If you're playing music and people don't feel something, you're not doing shit." - Fela Kuti
I felt something listening to this.
Wish I listened to more jazz, all genres. What an album to make that hit home.

Music From The Penguin Cafe
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
Oh shit! I've loved this group for a very long time. My 43rd most listened to band since 2011. Not my favorite album from them but still love it and being the first I get it's relevance on this list.
"... in the Penguin Cafe your unconscious can just be. It's acceptable there, and that's how everybody is. There is an acceptance there that has to do with living the present with no fear in ourselves."

Come Away With Me
Norah Jones
One time when this album was maybe a year old, I was wrapping through my hometown and old country boy in a big probably early 1980's truck with the exhaust rattling had their windows down, music turned up loud, and was belting along to this album.
Maybe it was just the marketing, or maybe there's really something special about the collection of these songs by Norah and crew. Either way it seemed like it reintroduced us to a genre.
Perhaps it's nostalgia but this album hits for me every time.
Saw other folks putting in ratings on a scale with halves in text their review, going to start doing the same.

Late Night, Maudlin Street is almost a whole star on its own.
This was the first Morrissey I've actually listened to. Wish I had more time to fully pay attention to this album yesterday. Which means I probably like it a lot.
