Henry's Dream by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

I've never heard of this band or this album. Based on this album, I don't want to know more. Not a fan of Nick Cave's voice--not for me. This reminds me of Phantom of the Opera in a bad way. This is a like a parody of Dracula, prancing through a castle. It was tough to get through the whole album. Sorry to all the fans I see in reviews. Sorry that I'll have to apparently listen to two (?) more Nick Cave albums eventually.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson

I've only ever known "Coconut," so listening to this album was a treat. It's a fully developed album, so much more than "Coconut." Standouts for me include "The Moonbeam Song" (both versions), "I'll Never Leave You," "Lamaze," and "Old Forgotten Soldier."

Dirt by Alice In Chains

Great album. Really gets to the anger and angst. I would have loved this as a teenager. Unfortunately, I wasn't exposed to it... Three stars because I will likely not listen to this album again.

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Mar 13 2024

Enjoyable but starts to all sound the same towards the middle of the album.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Mar 14 2024

I played saxophone through middle and high school, so listening to big band music is always a joy for me. I love picking out the different instruments being played, the harmonies they have, the music behind the melodies. Love, love, love.

Aja by Steely Dan

It's not bad. I would listen again. But it's, honestly, kinda boring.

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Mar 18 2024

I had to listen to this growing up when I was in the car with my dad and brother. I didn't enjoy it then, and I don't enjoy it now. It all sounds about the same.

With The Beatles by Beatles
Apr 24 2024

The two songs I liked: All My Loving and Till There Was You. Can't say anything else on here was, like, groundbreaking? I don't dislike The Beatles, but I've never understood their mass, years-long appeal. I'm sure someone will say that of the music stars of the 2010s/2020s in years to come.

What a fun surprise. I love this album and have since I first heard it in 2009.

Fever Ray by Fever Ray

This is not my style of music at all. Hate it. Will never ever listen again. I wish I didn't have to listen the first time. I'd really love a rubric that shows how these 1001 albums were determined.

Street Life by The Crusaders
May 02 2024

This is like funky elevator music. And I like it! Great, unoffending music that I can play at work.

May 06 2024

I love a song that tells a story, and that's this whole album. Makes me think of my grandpa and the music he would listen to and the westerns he would watch.

Elephant by The White Stripes
May 13 2024

First time listening to this album. I only ever knew Seven Nation Army from playing it as a stand tune in high school marching band. It's perfection.

Third by Portishead
Jun 20 2024

Compelling.

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Jun 21 2024

Great music. Very long. Didn't need all the commentary.

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Jun 26 2024

I've just never been a big fan of Elvis. He does have a good voice, but I've never liked the sound of it.

Elvis Is Back by Elvis Presley
Jun 27 2024

Just doesn't do it for me.

Superfuzz Bigmuff by Mudhoney
Jul 03 2024

It's long. The songs all sound the same/very similar.

Songs From A Room by Leonard Cohen
Jul 04 2024

Good coffee shop background music. That's all.

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Jul 09 2024

Listen, it's obviously good and creative. I just can't do 20 minutes songs.
