Hunky Dory by David Bowie
May 31 2024

Changes & Life on Mars are classics. Whole album has more piano than expected, but it works. Andy Warhol is a bit strange, but kind of funky. Is Life on Mars the conceptual beginning of Ziggy Stardust persona and whole space opera themes? Album as a whole is good. Maybe a 6.5/10, with the two singles being 8 or 9/10.

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Jun 05 2024

Beautiful and powerful voice. You can really hear the emotions in her words.

Jun 06 2024

Fun beats with old school DJing, sampling and scratching. Chuck D flows over the beats with powerful political lyrics. Flava Flav bounces in and out with ad libs and lyrics. The whole thing maintains a really fun atmosphere even through the serious messages. A real hip hop classic.

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Jun 07 2024

Definite classic songs on here. Also is the introduction of Snoop Dogg, and where Dre really popularized west coast gfunk. But overall the album sounds a bit dated.

If You Can Believe Your Eyes & Ears by The Mamas & The Papas
Jun 10 2024

Some classic tracks that are still great in "Monday, Monday" and "California dreamin". In those songs you can really hear the influence of popular sounds of the time that other bands like the beach boys or the Beatles were also using. Some really good voices help to really elevate some of these songs. Really strong for a debut album.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Jun 11 2024

Overall it is not really my thing. It did grow on me a bit after the first listen. Nothing that really caught my attention on it, but I could see it being a good almost to listen to at work.

The Hour Of Bewilderbeast by Badly Drawn Boy
Jun 13 2024

Very unique album. Not sure what to say about it. I liked it overall. It was mellow an folky. Kind of a blend of folk-pop-rock-alternative? At some points it was like listening to The Eels and some points it was like listening to Beck. Other points it was entirely its own thing.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Jun 18 2024

An album full of love songs. Very mellow listening. Good for listening to on a quiet morning. Great voice and emotional songs.

Quiet Life by Japan
Jun 19 2024

Interesting album. Lost of fun 80 synth rock and some operatic interludes.

Blackstar by David Bowie
Jun 20 2024

I guess I can see it's appeal for really big fans of Bowie, as some sort of concept jazz album. But I didn't think it was very good.

The Cars by The Cars
Jun 24 2024

Very good album. Short and sweet. No bad tracks. Entire front half of the album is hits. Made me realize how consistently good The Cars are as a rock band.

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
Jul 18 2024

Nice mellow psychedelic pop album. Solid all the way, and has "time of the season" which is a bop.

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Jul 19 2024

Amazing live versions of their best songs. Excellent mixing for a live recording.
