It works as background music, and I like the style. However, some songs are too long, and the melody is repetitive. I felt no highs, lows, or storylines throughout the album. Overall, it didn't excite me, but it didn't bother me either. Some parts I enjoyed.
I liked this album. Nothing I would have ever listened to or plan to listen to again. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the ride. I played out an entire musical in my head while listening. Family Band came unexpectedly. A bit too Christian for me, but I just accepted. Midnight Carousel was very cool and dramatic. I even appreciated the 10-minute Montana Song and could have stuck with it longer. Overall, it was a pleasant surprise and experience. The album title doesn't fit the vibe at all.
At first, I liked the atmosphere that this album creates. I kind of wish I had listened to this with an MP3 player. Nonetheless, I don't think that it had much to offer. A lot of synthesizers, which I am not a big fan of. The melodies were repetitive, which made me miss some lyrics even more. Frankly, I was already fed up with the album by the time I had reached the fourth song
I think it's a solid album. I will probably listen to it again since it is precisely my genre. However, it didn't touch me, and I can't pick a song that stuck out to me or followed me throughout the day. Side note: it all sounds incredibly American.
Very happy to have gotten the first The Cure album on here. Even though I like other albums better, this one is still a nice listen. I had it playing when doing household chores in the evening and couldn't help but dance a bit around the apartment, which is precisely what I judge my music by. However, it isn't good enough for 4 stars.
I love "Scar Tissue" and "Otherside" (yeah, basic, but they’re great!). The vibe of the band is exactly my kind of music, but as an album, it feels a bit repetitive (like the songs blend together). Everything sounds sort of familiar. The second half definitely picks up, but I wish there was more variety and maybe a clearer storyline overall. Nonetheless, 4 stars because it's still great
I could see myself listening to this album while cooking or baking, knitting or painting. It has a cosy and safe feeling but nothing that I would listen to for the sake of the music itself. There is no song that I remember in particular, but overall not a bad listen.
I love her voice. The songs are comforting, and I am happy to have listened to Dolly for a change. However, nothing really stood out to me or stuck in my head, which is why I'm only giving the album 3 stars.
As for music to work to, I really like the album, which I didn't expect, to be honest. However, it is not my cup of tea, so I only give three stars
