1001 Albums Summary

One point. Nothing stood out. Couldn’t really recommend anything from it.

There are some absolutely brilliant tracks on The Wall. If you distilled them all onto a single album it’d be 5 stars all the way. But it’s a double album… A bit uneven in places and over long. For all that still exceptional.

Four whole stars. Definitely an element of nostalgia in that rating but I’ll not be apologising for it.

Top marks for fellas harmonising. I’ve always liked Marrakesh Express and the opening track is great.

If you’re looking for hardcore misogyny that you can dance to you really can’t go past The Prodigy’s Smack My Bitch Up. Ah the 90’s - when ‘woke’ was nothing more than a past tense. Along with Breathe and Firestarter absolutely cracking tunes.

Covers. Early stuff, not their greatest, but all the elements in there that would make them the greatest.

Made me want to listen to more Steely Dan. I like the vibe.

It’s a bloody good album. Hard to find a bad track.

I’m was pretty unfamiliar with Joni Mitchell. Her style has a real appeal and the best of this album is quality.

Ray Charles is something special, but cover versions don’t generally set the world alight and this is no exception. Pleasant.
