Tapestry
Carole KingEasy listening, comforting music. Great lyrics. Minimalist album - mostly just singing and piano.

Blister in the Sun is a fantastic song, one that most people would instantly recognize. The rest of the album was new to me. I found it to be alright - a pretty fun and energetic album, with a few mellow songs to balance it out. Some of the songs are a bit noisy/chaotic for my liking, but I found the mix of punk and acoustic to be an interesting one. I definitely wouldn't have guessed the album was from the 80s (not a good or bad thing, just sounds more like 90s music to me). Overall, an enjoyable listen, but not sure if I'll find myself returning to it for further listening (aside from Blister in the Sun).
It's David Bowie. Enough said.
Wonderful album. Listening to Simon & Garfunkel is such an idyllic experience. Their harmonized voices sound angelic. Every single song on the album is amazing. Super enjoyable listen!
Relaxing album to listen to, but maybe a bit too relaxing. It was nice as background music, but a little sleepy to just sit down and listen to. I love Leonard Cohen's voice and he's a great lyricist, but he has better albums than this. Great music for a relaxing coffee shop vibe, but not something I'd listen to every day.
Some misses, some so-so songs, and a few decent ones. Most of the songs I'd listen to again are the singles that you hear all the time. Her voice can be a bit much to listen to for a full album.
I didn't recognize this band initially, but saw on their Wikipedia page that they did the score for The Virgin Suicides, which I remember liking a lot. Overall, this album was a very enjoyable listen. The chill/psychedelic feel was a great vibe. I prefer the songs with little to no vocals, but found the whole album great overall. The last two songs of this album were very significant to me. I'll 100% listen to the full album again.
Unpleasant to listen to. Songs aren't coherent enough to actually sound like music, just annoying noise.
You can't deny Adele's vocal prowess or song writing abilities. Each song smoothly transitions to the next, which seems even stronger than the song before. It's a powerful album.
Haven't heard much by the Rolling Stones, aside from their hits, but it was a thoroughly enjoyable listen.
A masterful album. Really enjoyed the Snoop and Thundercat features. Not the usual type of album I'd listen to, but it kept me engaged the whole time.
I'm sure it's an album that showcases great skill, but I didn't find it to be a very interesting listen.
Like most pre-teen girls, I loved me some Destiny's Child. As an adult listening to the full album, the hit singles (Independent Women, Survivor, Bootylicious, Emotions) are still a guilty pleasure, but the rest of the album is meh. The gospel/preachy songs are weird...
Decent but not super exciting.
A banger from start to finish. Quintessential 90s album.
I've only listened to the first album by The XX before and remember liking it a lot, but I found this one to be pretty sleepy and generic. None of the songs stood out or really drew me into the album. There wasn't anything especially noteworthy musically or vocally.
Easy 5 star rating for this one. Peak 90s music that still holds up in today's world.
Very cool listen. The story behind this album is super interesting, too.
Joined this list hoping to find albums like this - something awesome that I'd never come across myself. I've heard Give up the Funk before, but the rest was all new. Super awesome.
I enjoyed the album as background music - would be great for a coffee shop vibe. I didn't find it very memorable or interesting, though.
I'm not much of a foo fighters fan... find them to be too formulaic. However, their earlier stuff is significantly better. Every song on this album has an individual sound to it, and it was a great listen.
Not really my style, but there were some really good beats.
Who has time to listen to an album that's over 3 hours long? Ella's voice is so velvety and warm, though. A nice, jazzy, cozy vibe.
It was a decent listen, but not super memorable.
I feel like I'm always giving 3s... Decent album. Had an Oasis feel to it. Felt very 90s. Had heard maybe one or two of the songs before.
Fantastic album from start to finish. Nowhere Man, Think For Yourself Michelle, Girl and In My Life are real stand outs for me. But I could say that about almost every song on the album, really.
Haven't listened to much of Bjork before, but really enjoyed it. Interesting sound and great voice.
I really liked this. Had the quintessential 90s grunge feel to it.
Great album. Dylan is the type of artist who just plays music for music sake, without becoming overly commercialized. Simple instrumentals to accentuate his fantastic lyrics.
I really like Lana Del Ray, but this album isn't nearly as good as her Born to Die album. Love her voice and singing style.
Great album!
Decent album. They didn't have that specific Kings of Leon sound yet, which I actually liked better.
Great live album. Really showcases their talent.
Psychedelic magic. Quintessential 70s album.
Kind of weird. Not super into it. Found it to be a pretty boring album.
I really enjoyed this one! Had never heard of this band before, but was glad to have found them. Great up-beat rock sound.
Pretty funky.
Easy 5 star rating. Some really great songs throughout the album.
Decent album, but became grating to me after a few listens.
Didn't like this one. It felt very genre-less; some songs had an orchestral Beatles wannabe sound while others had a random world vibe. There didn't seem to be cohesion throughout the album. This was hovering between a 1 or 2 star rating for me, but decided to round up.
What a star studded album!
Soul isn't exactly my style, but Otis Redding certainly knows how to create and put together a great album. Lyrics and instrument accompaniment were expertly done.
Not a huge fan of Metallica, but they sure know how to put on a good show.
