The Yes Album by Yes
Oct 10 2024

This was one of the first albums I bought and Yes were one of my favourite bands back in the day. This is still one of my favourite albums and one of Yes' best in my opinion. I am glad that Jenny and Tim still have my vinyl copy and my handwritten lyrics!

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Oct 11 2024

I'm sure it's a classic but not really my type of music. I quite enjoyed some of the instrumental bits but not the singing - The Lip is particularly bad.

Oct 14 2024

I'd never really listened to a whole Lynyrd Skynyrd album before although I knew Sweet Home Alabama and Free Bird (from this album) very well. Pretty good!

So by Peter Gabriel
Oct 15 2024

This seemed a bit incoherent. There are some good tracks but I don't think this is his best work.

Highly Evolved by The Vines
Oct 16 2024

Not very impressed. Some good riffs but too much distortion and the vocals were too strained for me. Some parts sounded like other things but maybe they sound like them.

Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield
Oct 17 2024

A classic in its day and I probably enjoyed it at the time and it's quite good background music but now I find it a bit tedious to listen to. I did see it played live a few years ago which was quite good.

The Sensual World by Kate Bush
Oct 18 2024

I like Kate Bush but I was disappointed by this album. I found it all a bit insipid. Nothing memorable.

xx by The xx
Oct 21 2024

I'd not heard of this band (I wonder why!). I found it pretty dull really. Nothing to write home about.

Hail To the Thief by Radiohead
Oct 22 2024

I'm not a great fan of Thom Yorke's voice and I found this album to be rather dirge like and depressing. Not their greatest work.

Kid A by Radiohead
Oct 23 2024

Unfortunate (for me) to get two Radiohead albums on the trot. I found this one slightly better (less depressing) than Hail to The Thief but too discordant for me.

No Other by Gene Clark
Oct 24 2024

At first I thought Oh Dear! this is Country - I don't really like Country - but it's much more than I thought! By track 3 (No Other) I was quite enjoying it. There are some interesting arrangements and good guitar solos (which I do like).

Tommy by The Who
Oct 25 2024

I haven't listened to this all the way through for years. It makes much more sense if you do. It still sounds great with some excellent tracks. I don't consider it a 'concept album' or a 'rock opera' - it's a (sad) story told through a number of songs.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Oct 28 2024

This is a great first album. It has several of their 'Greatest Hits' - 'Do It Again', 'Dirty Work', 'Midnite Cruiser' 'Reelin' in The Years' ...

Odelay by Beck
Oct 29 2024

I'd heard of Beck but never really listened to him. I found this album very disappointing. I couldn't get into it. It seemed very disjointed.

Trio by Dolly Parton
Oct 30 2024

Great voices, nice harmonies but not my type of music.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Oct 31 2024

A classic album. One of the best. It's amazing that they managed to actually record it with all that was going on.

Eagles by Eagles
Nov 01 2024

One or two good tracks but overall pretty mediocre - 'easy listening' at best. Nothing like as good as Hotel California (the album).

Paul Simon by Paul Simon
Nov 04 2024

Quite enjoyable with some catchy tunes, one or two 'hits'. Probably not something I'd listen to again.

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Nov 05 2024

I found this a strange mixture of genres. I quite liked some of it. The Deluxe Edition is crazy with 48 tracks most of them repeats. Too much!

Le Tigre by Le Tigre
Nov 06 2024

I'd never heard of this band. The first time I listened to it I thought it was dreadful but I put it on again and it started growing on me. It was actually quite good at masking the noise of fireworks from the dog!

Is This It by The Strokes
Nov 11 2024

I didn’t know this album - apart from Last Nite but really enjoyed it especially with the volume turned up.
