Not for me.
Midnight In a Perfect World has a good beat. Otherwise, not really a music genre I listen to.
Cool riffs.
Great riffs! Guy's a genius with his electric guitar.
Couple great songs I'd listen to again. Overall, not something I'd listen to in its entirety.
I actually really enjoyed this album. Some great melodies, rhythms and lyrics. Love the overall soulful vibe. Michael's vocals are great too. Definitely found an artist to return to.
I'm giving it a 1 because I'm not vibing with it. I love certain Elton John songs but this album as a whole falls flat for me. There's no doubting Elton's ability to make great music but this album just isn't for me.
I'd like to start that this is not my style of music. With that said, I appreciate and see what The Specials contributed to the music history - ska and 2 tone, apparently are the terms describing their music.
After looking into their history and taking into consideration the time period they started out as, it was a bold thing to do, to combine the influences of punk rock and ska, the multicultural sounds brought together during a period of cultural unrest.
According to Jerry Dammers, the group was interested in starting a whole new subculture in an effort to change the societal perceptions around racial issues.
Jazz meets rock'n'roll. Mostly an instrumental piece of work that synthesises jazz with rock sounds. Piano, guitar riffs, saxophones etc. Interesting sound.
Not sure I would listen to it again but I appreciate the originality of the sound and the experimentation that Zappa boldly pursued.
Overall, the sounds, the vibe on this album is moody and melancholic. Musically, it's pretty impressive. The fact that this was released back in 1969, it makes it quite before its time. Classed as alternative and experimental underground sound, it would have been ahead of its time.
This album was released when Lou Reed was in his 3rd line phase (HD detail).
"What Goes On" is probably my favourite off this album. Great guitar riffs, beats and catchy lyrics.
I actually enjoyed this album overall. Lauryn's vocals, the melodies, the lyrics. Solid album.
First impressions, I can definitely hear the psychadelic influence. Something dreamlike to the quality of the first track. I can imagine psychadelic imagery that's typical to this type of music.
This band only released one LP. That's interesting because Byrd is a 6/2 prilfe in HD and that LP was released during his experimental phase. By the sounds of things, he experimented with a lot of things in his early years.
You could say they were definitely a little ahead of their time.
Where Is Yesterday has a very interesting composition. The repeptitive patterns are rather pleasing.
Stranded In Time has a beautiful classical element to it.
This was a really solid album. I'd definitely listen to it again. Some really great tunes. Classic Queen.
First impressions, I love the soulful guitar riffs. Lingering, slow, spacious. Puts you in the groove.
Growly singer's voice. Very expressive, especially in Six Blade Knife where his range goes up and down.
Hypnotic rhythmic beaths and strums. I dig it. Rock'n'roll vibes.
Very unusual style but there's something that truly captivated me. Her vocals, especially. I'll definitely listen to this again. I might change my rating in the future.
Some great blues tunes and riffs. I'd dance to it.
Songs that stood out: Beat It, Billie Jean and Human Nature.
All in all, a great album. Some really interesting and intricate beats. The vocals are impressive. Solid 4.
The fact that this was released in the 70s deserves a few stars. Love the improv vibes of it.
"Let There Be Drums" - great track. Loving the beats and the riffs. Also love the Last Bongo in Belgium Breaker Mix. The rest of the stuff I can take or leave. Great to dance to though.
The drumming on the album is incredible. Wow, kudos to whoever is the drummer. OK, John Bonham! The drums in "When the Levee Breaks" - ooof, speechless.
Oh, the harmonies! Don't think I'd listen to this album again though.
Great riffs, base and drumming but not for me.
Overall, a great album. I've listened to it before and definitely have my favourites. Great sound. Beautiful remaster.
I remember a few tunes off this one. My early adulthood years. Dy-Na-My-Tee was huge. I don't really care for the most of the songs though.
