1001 Albums Summary

This is my first Neil Young album that I've listened to. This album was an easy listen...especially if you're just cruising down a winding highway.

This album brought me back to my childhood in NYC. Hearing the instruments reminded me of the good times where my world was simple and fun.

Hearing this album made me wonder how life was during this time. I imagined the fashion and swagger men had listening to music like this. While I didn't particularly like the more fast paced tracks the ones with a slower beast really had me in a mood. I never listened to a Count Basie album but I wouldn't count it listening to another.

From the first to the last track the sound had a nostalgic ring to it. It reminds me of an 80's movie intro of some high school coming off age music. It was very calming. Even my 14 year old daughter knows about this group.

I was surprised by the quality of the music. I never knew that he ain't the original Strawberry Letter 23 and penned it for his then girlfriend.

This album contain two tracks that I know were smoked by hip hop artists. I would have never known that it was from Herbie. In fact my first introduction to Herbie Hancock was the Rock It video.

While I enjoy conscious rap this was somewhat uninteresting to me.
