Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
May 05 2025

Starts strong with a lot of fondly remembered Foo Fighter songs, like This Is A Call, I'll Stick Around, and Big Me. Lots of repetitive phrasing. Alone + Easy Target and Good Grief are obnoxious listens. Good Grief is a generally good song but annoying way "Hate it" is repeated is very grating. Floaty is a step up from Good Grief, but isn't a song I'd come back to. It seems to be attempting a "floaty" vibe, which I enjoy in songs that execute it well, but this just sounds like the same song but less intense. Weenie Beenie starts pretty annoying. The vocals are intentionally made to be extremely grating. I think that can work but it doesn't seem like they've mastered song writing at this point in order to make that work. Oh, George sounds like a "Foo Fighters" song, but kind of a boring one. It lacks the energy of some of their more well-known classics. For All the Cows was a nice positive spot in a part of the album that's started to drag. Not good enough to warrant further listens, but I wouldn't be unhappy to hear it again. X-Static puts me to sleep. That being said, it could definitely find its way on a more lowkey, chill playlist with the more whispered vocals. I vibe with this. Wattershed is meh. Tries to be a high paced, heavy metal joint but it doesn't work. Exhausted is a quiet "exhausted" song. Honestly, a pretty good way to close off the album. Overall, after my initial listen, probably a 2-2.5 for me.
