The Dreaming
Kate BushTheater kid music. I understand it’s experimental art rock but it’s tortuous. The production is pretty impressive so I will give her that.

Sonically a fun listen. Songwriting and vocals are meh. Shitty neutral milk hotel.
Really a fantastic album start to finish. Amazing voice and great songwriting. Instrumentally it’s pretty average but I would recommend this to anyone. Is it a perfect 5? No. Would I listen to it again? Absolutely.
Unique and eclectic. Some tracks on here were definitely ahead of their time, “Porcelain” and “Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad” come to mind. Was probably pretty groundbreaking when it came out but listening to it know it’s hard to differentiate amongst your run of the mill electronic album. Also, it’s too long, towards the end it felt like an acid trip that I was just riding out. Not unlistenable because there are some legitimately good electronic tracks on here, but I wouldn’t choose to listen to the whole thing again.
It’s a masterpiece start to finish. Really hard not to give this one a 5, it’s Kanye at his very best. Iconic samples, beats and vocals.
Another very eclectic album. Quality is a little inconsistent, for example, “Oh, Maker” and “Neon Valley Street” are really great tracks from a songwriting, production and vocal perspective, but songs like “Cold War” and “Come Alive” were just exhausting listens and felt a little “commercialized” and uninspired if that makes sense. She is undeniably talented and has a great voice. Worth a listen but not my cup of tea.
I don’t understand the love of the Talking Heads. I’ve given them several chances but it’s just not for me. David Byrne’s voice just sucks so bad, and it’s exceptionally bad on this album.
Kind of a frustrating album. It becomes somewhat listenable about half way through but even then, the unintelligibleness of the lyrics and horrendous garage band vocals pulled me out of nearly every song. It’s almost comical how bad it gets at some points. For me the only thing keeping this from being a 1 is the instrumentals. They aren’t without critique, but it is maybe the only redeeming aspect of this album. The Bucket, Rememo and Four Kicks are standouts.
Absolutely timeless. I love live albums so I might be a little biased. He absolutely crushes this set and it’s fun to hear him whip that crowd up into a frenzy. Him playing the same song twice because the crowd was digging it so much the first time is awesome. Incredible performance and performer.
This feels sacrilegious but this album is really average. The harmonies are nice and all but most of the album is not memorable. Still a good listen and I do understand why people love it, it’s just not a masterpiece in my opinion.
This is an actual masterpiece. The fact that Iron Man is probably the worst track on the album speaks volumes. I’m not a metalhead by any stretch, but the mix of Iommi’s riffs, Butler’s baselines and Osbourne’s spooky vocals is sublime. Hand of Doom and planet Caravan are standouts.
Another band that I want to like but just don’t. This album is a painful listen, which I think is what they were going for. It’s a perfect fusion of everything I dislike about both grunge and metal. Not for me.
Decent soul album. Has its highs and lows. “Runaway Child” was an upsetting listen, but I loved “Why did she have to leave me.” The falsetto lead songs were a little grating and out of key at times. Not bad, not amazing.
4 This album brings back so many memories. Both of my parents loved Van Morrison and played this album all the time when I was a kid. Personally, I’m more of a ‘Moondance’ guy, but this album is a certified classic. I will say the only downside is most of the songs sound the same.
Theater kid music. I understand it’s experimental art rock but it’s tortuous. The production is pretty impressive so I will give her that.
She has a pleasant voice. This is good morning music, very sleepy and slow. Besides “son of a preacher man” there is nothing outstanding to say about the content of this album.
Solid soul album. Definitely need to be in a certain mood to appreciate it, not a regular listen for me.
Did not think I would enjoy this as much as I did. Really cool fusion of punk and new wave. Will definitely be listening again.
Pleasantly surprised with this one. Pretty dreary album overall but I appreciate the consistency and dedication to capturing a specific tone. I listened to it twice because I couldn’t decide between a 3 or 4. The sound landscape is so mesmerizing and it’s just a great album to just shut your mind off and experience.
2 It has its moments. I’m a big fan of house and trance music, but I find most of this album to be pretty obnoxious and just low effort.
I first stumbled up this album 5 years ago and was instantly mesmerized. The dream-like soundscape mixed with the ethereal almost unintelligible lyrics is a beautiful experience that leaves you feeling like your floating carelessly through the cosmos.
Without looking it up I can tell English is not their first language. Repeating “We are the Robots” and “Spacelab” over and over again in their eastern block accent was hysterical to listen to. I did not think I would like this but I love it. I don’t know if I’ll listen to it again or even remember it a month from now, but it was a great.
Surprisingly palatable, punk is usually not my favorite, but there was some good stuff in here. I like the more alternative rock tracks on here but even the punk stuff was not bad.
I enjoyed it but this is something you would listen to either right before going to bed or just waking up. Doesn’t hold a candle to Dylan’s songwriting but I enjoy Clark’s voice more.
4 Loved the acoustic first set and electric second set. You could tell he was a little more jazzed up about the electric set lol. Great album, favorite songwriter, not my favorite singer but vocals aren’t everything in my opinion. Favorite song: tom thumbs blues. Least favorite: BOATM
Out of respect for the artistry of this album I’ll give it a 3. There were some great moments that ultimately were over shadowed by some really boring tracks. I will say I’m pretty positive I’ve never listened to this album before but it felt strangely familiar
Albums like these are exceedingly hard for me to rate. On one hand, this is a very fun album to mindlessly listen to. On the other hand, it’s lacking in creativity and is quite dated. Does ZZ Top have anything profound to tell us? No. They like expensive things, cocaine and loose women. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. I think it’s pretentious to say that an album must have a deeper meaning or substantive message in order for it to be great. I enjoyed listening to this, sue me.
Easy listening. I like the songwriting and storytelling. Overall, nothing crazy, probably won’t go back to it.
The operatic singing got a little annoying but overall this was more palatable than I was expecting. I know of Iron Maiden but never really listened to it. Couldn’t stop thinking of James from Love on the Spectrum.
Great album.
This is so good. In the last year I’ve really come around to Latin music. Makes me want to lay up on a patio with a cigar. Will definitely be revisiting.
Another mainstay in my parents catalog of CD’s. Never really gave it too many listens as a kid because I thought it was too slow. But it is a very beautiful album. Willie really gets to show off his vocal range amidst covers and originals.
Potentially the most British sounding album I’ve ever heard. Pretty campy stuff. I do like a lot of their later stuff but this album is a little too goofy for my taste.
Who is this for lol. The instrumentals are decent, everything else is just too pitchy and noisy for my taste.
Very unique blend of alt rock and psych rock. One of those bands that truly has their own voice and sound. Hard to hate.
Jazzy, bluesy, funky. This album covers a vast array. Money for nothing, so far away, walk of life, all classics. Knopflers guitar work remains some of the greatest in the industry.
Fun indie rock album, lots of synth and heavy beats. Cool fusion of genres.
I’ll give it a three because his voice is incredible, but the content is a two. I don’t dislike it but I would be embarrassed to be caught listening to it in public.
First of all, RIP Ozzy, absolute legendary mad man. This album fucking rules. While it may not be thematically as cohesive as Paranoid, it’s an evolution of a band that is exploring avenues outside and adjacent to the genre they helped pioneer.
Quirky and boring at the same time. Reminds me of talking heads but weirdly a little more listenable. I don’t hate it but I wouldn’t seek it out.
I never understood why he never sang more, he had a good voice. Talk singing has always been a pet peeve of mine, but that was his thing. Instrumentally I love Lou Reed and Velvet Underground, it works perfectly with the songwriting and vocals - which on their own I don’t think I would care for.
One of my least favorite Metallica records. Love ride the lighting and kill em all. This one is just boring to me, don’t hate it but not one that I come back to.
Most of this album stinks, with the exception of the African world music tracks, Soweto is a banger.
I like music from other countries, mostly Latin music, but this is pretty much unlistenable. The twangy sitar and turn of the century electronic beats give me flashbacks to Mogadishu.
She has a good voice, there is just too much going on in the background for me to really settle in and enjoy it.
