Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings

Writing this album after being cast as the pop freak of The Beatles and the blame for their demise is the only thing that could revive Paul’s career and he somehow managed to accomplish it. Writing and instrumentals aside, there is truly no better example of why song order is so crucial, especially when you have a career like Paul’s. A hit wouldn’t have reestablished him, but a whole record, one far tighter and more conclusive than the Beatles’ final albums, could and did.

Life's Too Good by The Sugarcubes
Jun 11 2025

Very 80s but with touches of unexpected instruments. Not my thing but very talented musicians.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jun 13 2025

was really excited this album was assigned to me yesterday after Brian Wilson’s passing and then realized it was assigned to everyone. All the same, everyone should listen to it, but its no Pet Sounds. While the writing is good, it reeks of forced relatability (Don’t Go Near the Water) alongside loosely veiled political statements. This is fine, but some of their song choices just feel odd, which would have been a dismissible trait in the early 60s, but they were established at this point, and so was surf rock. Great album, great sound and a good lineup of songs —some of the picks are unfortunately juvenile.

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Jun 14 2025

I am ASHAMED I love Gorillaz so much and never bothered listening to them. This is a very repetitive album which can be fun but with the amount of short songs on the track, it got old. Album art is pretty and feel ahead of its time.

D by White Denim

This album is like King Giz’s whole discography condensed into one. White Denim walked so Giz could SPRINT.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Bog rock

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Jun 17 2025

I can understand why this album is iconic, I really can. But the COVER?? I hate it so much. I get objectifying women was cooler the. But it doesn’t sit any better with me now.

Fifth Dimension by The Byrds
Jun 18 2025

Fun album, fun look into a moment in time, but not an essential byrds album.

Dust by Screaming Trees
Jun 19 2025

SHOCKED I enjoyed this album as much as I did. You can distinctly hear the Washington 90s rock sound seeping through.

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Jun 20 2025

Feels like they rushed to fill a gap between their first two GOOD albums with unlimited cliches and rushed melodies. Leave the Car Running carries the whole album, and gives a taste of patience to the overall sound. Nonessential Arcade Fire, sadly.
