Rio by Duran Duran
Jul 14 2025

Well, the singles are still fine. Nothing else memorable and every song seemed to get to the point of just repeating the chorus very quickly. Definitely a band to stick to the greatest hits, based on this

Jul 15 2025

I'd never heard the originals of court of the crimson king or schizoid man before. It's an interesting album - bit too jazzy for me. It's a proper album though - not meant to be separated. I like that and I feel it would grow on me

Amnesiac by Radiohead
Jul 16 2025

Just not for me. I'm glad I have finally listened to a whole Radiohead album. I don't need to do so again.

Clandestino by Manu Chao
Jul 17 2025

Just not my thing. Background music

Kenya by Machito
Jul 18 2025

No

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Jul 21 2025

That's a lot of good songs. It's hard this one, because it's great but I wouldn't choose to listen to it. 3.5 I reckon.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

Ah, my 12th favourite Sabbath album. I get that it's massively influential, but it's just a bit dull, especially the lesser known tracks. Also, i think Ozzy was the worst singer Sabbath had.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jul 28 2025

I reckon this was great at the right time. Some dreadful lyrics though

Reign In Blood by Slayer
Jul 30 2025

If anyone is actually reading these, that Sabbath response was written at the end of 2 hours chugging through Dover to get to the ferry. Should have given it at least 3, maybe 4. Anyway, 'Reign in Blood' was influential in its day and it does a few limited things very well, but it just highlights for me how much better those early Metallica and Megadeth albums were. 'South of Heaven' is a much better Slayer album to try. I can't imagine choosing to listen to this. 'Master of Puppets' came out in the same year and is light years ahead. This app is starting to get me down. I like loads of music in various genres, but none of the stuff this app keeps choosing!

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Aug 04 2025

Interesting. Never listened to this because I didn't like the title. I think that with a different vocalist I'd be giving this a higher score. Not keen on the way he strains his voice for emphasis; it's better on the slower tracks.

Purple Rain by Prince
Aug 05 2025

I like some of this. Darling Nikki remains the least sexy song of all time though!

Toys In The Attic by Aerosmith
Aug 08 2025

Finally a 5. I was going to go 4 because the follow up, Rocks, is better, but it's only a 1-5 scale after all. Seen them live 3 times, and oddly enough that includes one of the best and one of the worst concerts I've attended.

The Specials by The Specials
Aug 13 2025

I was surprised how much I liked this. And the theme to Death in Paradise!

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Aug 14 2025

It's good, but they got better

LP1 by FKA twigs
Aug 15 2025

Not bad. Rachel filled me in on her tragic relationship history.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Aug 18 2025

See, I remember listening to this when it came out. Track 1 was awesome, and then it seemed like everything else wasn't as good. This time, I'm much more impressed. Great voice.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Aug 19 2025

I can't really get into earlier Dylan stuff, but from here on its great. Joan Baez did a better version of Simple Twist of Fate though.

Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear
Aug 20 2025

Just a bit dull

Van Halen by Van Halen
Aug 25 2025

I was into hair metal in the 80s, but I just never found VH that catchy. Second star is for Ain't Talking Bout Love, though, which is awesome.

Parachutes by Coldplay
Aug 26 2025

I tried, and it sounds like a cliche, but both listens I didn't notice when the album had ended

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Aug 27 2025

It is clearly brilliantly crafted. I just don't like listening to it. It feels like a 90 minute panic attack

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega
Sep 03 2025

Bizarre that in a youth mostly spent listening to Maiden and Metallica, this album made such an impression on me. I still keep coming back to it.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Sep 12 2025

I'd never heard anything by them, but I was surprised at how much I like this. Not a 5 yet, but maybe after more listening. Made me think of Biffy Clyro at times - variety and vibe

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Sep 16 2025

The singles are amazing. The rest is ok.

System Of A Down by System Of A Down
Sep 17 2025

I can feel that it's good. I just don't like it

Brothers by The Black Keys
Sep 22 2025

Fine. Bit samey

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
Sep 24 2025

It's pretty much perfect

Green by R.E.M.
Sep 30 2025

I prefer earlier REM, but I had forgotten how good this is.

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
Oct 01 2025

Some good ideas. I just can't see why you'd want to listen to it more than once.

Oct 07 2025

In general, U2 leave me a bit cold. This, however, is one of the greatest albums of all time. And I will die on the hill that the media went all out to make everyone think Bono was a prick as soon as he tried to leverage his fame into campaigning for the environment etc. Although he does come across as a bit of a bellend, regardless.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Oct 17 2025

It's kind of just a historical oddity now. There's nothing here that hasn't been improved on since.

Ragged Glory by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Oct 29 2025

I like it, but I prefer his gentler stuff

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Nov 05 2025

Best to stick to the singles

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Jul 30 2026

I quite liked this as background music
