We Are Family
Sister Sledge
After only ever hearing a good portion of these songs on the radio at work in the background almost daily has caused them to become irritating and overplayed. Then I get home, this site suggested the album, so I get comfortable, with it playing through my earphones. The songs suddenly get a whole new lease of life, with the clear basslines and the fully realised vocals shimmering through. I'm listening to them for the first time as many would have back in '79. It's almost ashame that time can taint your perception of some music.

2000's Indie really does nothing for me at all. Everything about it grates on me. The twiddly guitar and obnoxious/self satisfied vocals. And I could happily go the rest of my life and never hear 'Take Me Out' again. That being said, this is fine. 'Darts of Passion' is probably, for me, the best song on the album and 'Tell Her Tonight' unlocked a forgotten memory of hearing it on FIFA 05.

Pet Sounds
The Beach Boys
Really liked it. The california vibes shone through. I've never listened to them before but really liked this. I have always been aware of the album. Stand out tracks for me were 'Pet Sounds' and 'Here Today'. Obviously I knew 'God Only Knows' and 'Wouldn't It Be Nice', which are obviously very good songs, but I've heard then so many times now they just washed over me.

What an album. All the singles are undeniable, but the main reason I'm doing this challenge is to hear the album tracks, and oh boy they don't disappoint. The title track is the stand out, but from my 2 listens there doesn't seem to be any filler tracks. Fantastic!
