1001 Albums Summary

I had never listened to this album before, but it's exactly what I would expect from REM. They had a really strong and realized sound right from their first album.

classic early 70's sound with a little 50's inspired rhythmy guitar. great first listen for me

I really struggled with this album. I'm someone who likes jazz, but this was something else. It was a nightmare of cacophonous noise that rarely met up for anything pleasing. I wanted to like the more melodic moments, but I couldn't enjoy them because they were sandwiched between screeching horns or rhythm players doing their own thing as loudly as possible.

Classic 50’s vibes. Felt like I needed to be at a drive in movie with my sweetie listening to this

This is an interesting one for me. I'm someone who typically likes synth heavy electronic-based music, but this didn't really land for me. I'll give it another listen in the next few days and see if I feel differently about it.

honestly meh. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. It left no impression on me.

A sleeper hit! This album was made just for me. I'm already giving it a second listen. Whatever genre and makeup this is, I'm all in.

This isn’t my genre, but I kinda get how people would like Kanye’s earlier stuff after this listen

My first Steely Dan album! I had heard a lot of mixed reviews about this band but had never listened to any of their music. Firmly enjoyed this album and look forward to hearing more!
